Christmas countdown.

I woke this morning with a purple bruise on my right jaw.  And more swelling than yesterday.  I wonder what exactly they did to me while I was asleep at the Dentist office.
I kow I am weak from not eating.  And my jeans felt loose today.  All I have been able to eat was cream of chicken soup, and jello, and icecream.  I did eat a lightly scrambled egg this morning.
One thing I noticed while on the predisone I feel more tired, and light headed.  But it did help.  I hate that stuff, but sometimes you have to take it.. I am still on the pain medication every 6 hours.  The oral surgeon called to check on me, and my regular dentist called to check on me. Which made me feel good.   They said I did really well.  I don't know what they give you to put you to sleep but that was some wild stuff.  I dreamed alot of dreams with swirling gold  colors.   Last thing I remembered was them putting oxygen on my nose.  Then I woke up and my face was so numb and my mouth was full of gauze, a terrible feeling...  Hubby said it only took an hour.  I am just glad it is over with.  Very stressful thing to go through.

It was cold here last night and this morning.  No snow, but it did rain most of the day.  I have been in my pjs or jogging pants all weekend.  I dozed in front of the fire today.  And have  just been trying to rest.

We did go out for a bit to the Hollywood video. I got some pitying looks from the clerks that worked there with my bruise and swollen face.  I bet they thought David and hubby had been beating on me.  David has a movie called Mostly Ghostly who let the ghost out in our dvd player now, after that  We are  watching  Funny People.  David made us watch Coyote Ugly with him.  Hubby and I have seen before, but he had not.
This one looks pretty scary...Hard to type and concentrate with all the demons and screams.
One bright spot,  Hubby fixed crablegs and salmon for supper tonight.  I really was starving, and ate some small bites of salmon and a baked sweet potato and sweet peas.  I told him it was better than Longhorns salmon.  I will have to post recipe later.

David is driving me crazy with his listening to the same cd's over and over again.  He keeps the headphones on in the car, even takes his boombox into the bathroom when he showers.  Teen boys are something else let me tell you!  He has a small mustache now at 14.  I have hinted that he can use hubbys electric razon, but he has not shaved yet.
I miss my little curly hair boy, he has grown up overnight it seems.  He is daydreaming and moody, and half the time I don't think he hears a word I tell him.
Teens are something else..

History has a way of repeating itself.  I remember daughter listening to music all the time too, or talking on the phone all hours.  I thought I would not survive those years.

I really am getting a sense of urgency about my Christmas shopping.  All my UPS orders have arrived.  And I am not even half done.  I am going to try and get out and finish up next week.    Are any of the rest of you done with Christmas Shopping?

pets bring us joy and better health.

I found this picture touching. I think it is amazing the bonds between an animal and human, they can love and feel just like two people can. Everytime we go anywhere we are met with a dog with a wagging tail at our front door when we return.  She sleeps in the hall guarding Davids room at night..   And she cries to go outside and waits at the end of the drive around the time hubby gets home each day.  How she knows the time is beyond me?  It feels good after being out in the world to come home where things are warm, comfortable and welcoming.  I read where they are trying to pass a bill where pet owners get a tax deduction for being a pet owner. I think they should!  It would include the cost of food, medical care ect... It would help defray the cost of people losing their pets due to not being able to buy food or medical bills for them.  Also did you know having a dog or cat improves your health and well being.  Yes it is true, a proven fact.  I would love to get another pet, but hubby says our dog woudl be too jealous.  She loves getting all the belly rubs and attention.  I dogsat one weekend and she was not a happy camper!
I had dental surgery yesterday.  It was pretty bad at first when the numbness wore off.  But thanks to some good strong meds, It kept the pain at bay.  I was put to sleep with the teeth were cut out, and now have stitches.  My jaws are like a chipmunks on one side, and sore but I am able to drink cool drinks and eat soup.

My kind thoughtful husband has been waiting on me hand and foot.  I am so lucky he has always pitched in and helped when me or the kids are sick.
I will be staying in reading and watching some movies this weekend.  No way I am going to be able to shop.  Hubby told me he is making broc and cheese soup for our supper so that will be good.  And David is going to be helping pitch in as well.

It is cold and damp here.  Chance of snow in some parts of the state, but not us.
I am reading a book titled Perfection.  It is pretty good, but eye opening how sometimes wives don't really know the man they married and about leading double lives.

Like I said makes me realize how lucky I am..

Friends

Thinking of and missing some Old friends.  Good friends are hard to find.  If you have a good one, cherish them and hold them close.  Sometimes friendships take some work.   One of My best friends met and married a man, she met on the internet.  Even though she is far away now in another county, she and I still know that we will be there for each other. I got some good news that she is coming back here for Christmas!   I can't wait to see her.

Childhood memories

Old picture of our daughter, the one in the santa hat at her great- grandma's house.
In the 80's.  The taller girl is her aunt Nicole.  I just found out today my husbands mom is in the Hospital very sick.  She has been in there for three weeks. I don't have a good feeling about it at all.  Her health has really declined this past year.   I hope and pray she gets well and can come home for Christmas.  For those of you who pray,.I would ask for her to be added to your prayers. Thank you.. It is really hard when someone is sick and hurting durning the holidays.

Remember those cabbage patch dolls?  They were such a big hit the first year they came out.  People were getting up at the crack of dawn lining up  at the Stores to get one.  I think I was one of those moms.  Then I had to buy baby clothes to put on it.  It was a cute thing, and daughter carried it around everywhere she went.
I wish Daughter would have kept hers. It may be worth something someday.

This time of year, I sometimes think of my Christmas's as a child.  How much I loved the orange in the bottom of my stocking. And the chocolate covered cherries, and peppermint stick candy.  Back then children were lucky to get a couple toys and maybe some new clothes or coat for School.  I still remember my favorite present was a purple and pink bike with the banana seat and the curved handle bars.  Boy I thought I was so cool riding down the road on that thing.  I had a little basket to keep my drink and jump rope in.  I was so happy to ride it to my friends house to play.  I grew up in town and we had side walks to ride on.  All the kids rode to and from the playground or each others houses.  I think I was 8 years old when I got that bike.  Funny I can't remember getting anything else that year.  But that was enough for me.

What was your favorite Christmas present as a child?

Farewell Old Turkey until next year.

I felt a little sad as I packed away my Turkey and fall decorations.  Hubby laughed when I brought it home.  He said that poor Turkey has the skinnest legs of any he had ever saw.
But I liked looking at him on our fireplace mantel.
We have our house decorated, but it needs a good picking up and straightening before I post my tree pictures.

Speaking of trees,  Yesterday I saw a suv with three live trees tied to the top. Some must have a big house.

And then last night I saw even more cars with trees tied to the top of the car.  Everyone seems to be doing things early this year.  I am just thankful ours is up and done.  I wanted a live tree this year, but thought of hubby and how much work it would be for him to haul into house and get into the tree stand, and with all that he has done,. I decided just to put our artifical one up again.  We bought at Sears a couple years ago, so it still looks good.  He bought some really nice colored led lights to put on..( The guys love the colored lights, I like the white)  I gave in this year.

The wreaths are hung on the windows, with red bows.  White lights around the railings of the porch.  It looks pretty nice if I do say so myself.  It is alot of work, and my body hurt so bad afterwards, but it is done.  I have to say David was a big help and hubby did the most of it.

We are thinking of going to the movies to see Old Dogs with Robin Williams and John Travolta..I love those guys, always good in movies.

This weekend is going by too fast!!!!

I hope each of you is having a good one..

Peace & Love

A little peek at some of our work...

Black Friday..

Good luck to all you bargain shoppers out there.  I am not going to be joining you this year.
For many years I had to work in retail.  Yes, that thankless profession.  The people who work long hours with aching backs and bodies to make sure the store is stocked and ready to make everyone's Christmas a Merry one.  The last year I worked retail, they started staying open on Thanksgiving day.  That about did it for me.  It is just wrong.  People in retail mostly work nights and weekends during the Holidays.  They at least deserve Thanksgiving off with their famlies who never see much of them during Christmas.
I got enough of the after Thanksgiving sales then.  People are really stressed this year, and I can only imagine what it will be like.  I enjoy people, talking to them,  but something about this time of the year brings out the worst in some.  And of course there are many greedy people always wanting and wanting and nothing is never enough.   I think sometimes we need less things and more time with those that really matter.
I will be staying home and enjoying my stack of dvds and books.  I woke this morning and my entire body was hurting.  I must have over did it yesterday.
My daughter who is a great shopper was nice enough to do some shopping for me this morning.  She braved the crowds...  I have yet to hear from her.  I hope she survived.
What about the rest of you?  Any good bargains out there?

Winding down from Thanksgiving.

I hope each of you had a Happy Thanksgiving.  Ours was good. The turkey turned out golden, the potato salad was perfect according to hubby, and I made homemade dressing.
Added to the mix was green bean casserole, buttered rolls and several pies.  I had not ate breakfast so the food was all the much better.  It took a long nap for me to recover from all I ate..  I was only able to eat a small sliver of pecan pie just now.
I am so thankful for my family, and home and so many other things.  It has been a hard year but we still have each other, and that is what matters most.  I sure wish my Mom and dad could have been here with us.
I woke to the sound of thunder and we had a nice shower.  Earlier today the sun was shining.
A big Thank you to our troops, police officers, people who work in the medical field and other service people who make our world a better place.  I know some of you had to work today,If so hope you have tomorrow off and enjoy your day.
