I imagine all of you have heard on the news about Paula Deen having diabetes.

I still love her recipes, and enjoy watching her and her sons cook on T.V.

But that does not mean that I will eat that kind of food every day or every week even.

Moderation is the key. I have to agree with that.

Like red velvet cake. I love, love, love it. But maybe have a slice once or twice a year.

I could eat it every day, but that would add the pounds and I would not look forward to it as much.

I was raised on home cooking, like what she cooks.

But we mostly ate fresh foods out of the garden and had very little meat. And no processed foods like chips or cookies from the store.

My mom baked biscuits almost every day. A snack once and awhile would be a honey biscuit or a homemade jelly biscuit.

My mom made me and my friends help her pick berries. A task I hated. But she could make a mean cobbler and pie.

I was never a overweight child. I was often told I was too skinny. Looking back I realize alot of it was how active I was. I ran and played from daylight to dark. We never had many toys or games.

The grass, trees, sticks and dirt was our toys.

I remember being Go outside and play when I would be in the house pestering my Mother.

She stayed busy cleaning, canning and other household chores.

I remember our hardwood floors shining and being so slick you could run and slide all the way across the living room.

This was before I started School and my mom had not started work.

Over the years, I have put on some weight. Tried diets, which some worked but then I gained weight back and then some. Recently after 2 major surgeries in one year I have lost 30 lbs. I do look and feel better. I have come to realize we all put on weight after age 40. You have to work hard at staying in good health and shape. And the older one gets the harder it is.

Every day I think to myself, how many fruits and vegetables have we ate today.

I have been fixing big pots of soup and stews. There is something comforting about a hot bowl of soup.

I noticed not long ago a can of Campbells soup was almost $2 a can! This was a can of chicken noodle. I could not believe it. And you all know how little chicken there is in a can like that. I can buy a chicken, celery, carrots, onions and noodles, a few spices, roast in crockpot and make a huge pot of delicious soup and freeze a bunch in the freezer.

With the economy the way it is, we are trying to do things smarter. Alot of things from my childhood I plan on starting back doing.

I have also learned alot of tips from other peoples blogs.

So thank you to those who have blogs teaching us how to be more saving and how to get the most out of a product for the money.

Merry Christmas from our home to yours...

I often reflect on the year gone by at Christmas. Or think of my parents/loved ones who are no longer with us. Something about the Holidays is bittersweet. It can be a fun happy time. But a hard time for those who are sick or have no one to share the good times with. Make the most of every day is my motto, for you never know what the next day may bring.

I enjoyed time with family tonight. We had a smoked turkey breast with dressing and corn on the cob and green beans for dinner.

My sister helped me with the last of the presents to wrap.

Last year we had to cut our Christmas party short due to the snow. Today i wore a short sleeve top it was so warm indoors. I think it was 55 outdoors.

Not that I am complaining. I love the sunny days and the lower heating bill when we have this type of weather.

We are having a big Christmas dinner tomorrow at our daughter and sil's house.

I have not got to see little grandson in almost a week. I can't wait to hold and hug him. Last time I saw him he climbed into my lap and put his little arms around my neck and laid his head on my shoulder.

Daughter said he never lays still like that when she tries to hold him. He wants to play. I think he remembers my holding and rocking him and singing to him back when I kept him.

I just laughed and told her it was a special bond grandmas have with their grandsons.

I hope he likes the chair I bought him for Christmas. It is just the right size for a little sprout. And he will be able to grow into it.

I was very pleased with the navy with tan piping and it looks very well made. I found it at Pottery Barn.

I mostly am giving gift cards since my surgery kept me from really having much time to shop. I love to shop and hope knee surgery will help with the knee pain I had been having.

We stayed home today, and watched movies. One of them was The Help.

It was a very good movie.

Well it is late, better get off here. I hear someone in my kitchen banging pots and pans around. Hubby said something about baking a cake.

This picture says it all. I have been in hibernation for the past two weeks.
After four years of pain, and having to put my life on hold due to pain, I had the knee surgery.
TKR...It was an eye opening experience.   I am amazed how many nerves and tendons are connected to the knee. When I came to after surgery I was numb from waist down.  Not a good feeling.
But when the numbness wore off it hurt really bad.  I Got a quick lesson in pain management and pain pills and staying ahead of the pain. Thankfully the nurses were kind and helpful so that helped my confusion some what. You come out of surgery and the next thing you know Physical therapy and 10 other people are there to teach you about exercise, how to put on your pants when you can not move your leg ,etc..they showed me a 5 minute film and then proceeded to ask me if I could give myself a shot in the stomach to prevent blood clots.. Yeah I stammer, I guess  can.
Then they are packing you up, and sending you home after 3 days.

Which it did feel good to be home after all that you go through.
It is a hard surgery and a long recovery. Would I do it again? Not sure. Ask me a month from now. I have physical therapy 3 times a week.
I am healing nicely and got staples out today.
Walking short distances, and slowly getting strength back.
I have spent more time in this bedroom than I can ever remember. I have never been one to lay in bed except to sleep. But all the shopping with the Holidays, getting house ready and then the surgery. It just wiped out my energy.
Not being able to walk or turn over on your side is hard after surgery. I would stare at my leg and try my best to lift it off bed and could not do it the first days in the hospital.  It is not a good feeling to have to ask someone, that you do not even know to help you get out of bed and walk to the bath room.
And the bone which has been sawed and cut, throbbs and burns beyond any pain you ever imagined.
Thank God for modern medicine and the iv drip.
But hey I survived..
and am ready for Christmas.   I love Christmas.   All the Christmas songs and movies, and good food, And most of all being with those I love.

Autumn Leaves

I had a stressful start to my day. A dental appointment. I had a rough night too sleep wise.
Too much on my mind I guess. However today it did not stop me from admiring the fall colors.
Red, Gold and orange the colors are brilliant this year.

A much needed reminder that the world is a beautiful place. I noticed close to where I attended first grade there were many houses for sale. I wonder if many lost their jobs the reason they are selling.
Town was empty, not hardly anyone out shopping.

I hope and pray this recession ends soon. I have never in my lifetime seen it like this.
On to happier things, What's everyone having for Thanksgiving. I am cooking this year.
Making my grocery list. I can't wait to see little Grandson enjoying his first turkey dinner at my house. I love having my family at my dinner table enjoying a good meal.

I hope we have good weather. I have a feeling a cold front is headed here soon.

Good Times

Summer has came and gone. It was a great summer and we took a much needed vacation with our family. Here in the South our summers are hot and humid. I advise any one from up North to dress cool and comfortable and drink lots of iced tea. And use sunscreen every day even on cloudy days.
We went to the Beach in SC. Little one had a wonderful time at the condo where we stayed. Lots of glass windows and mirrors for his little hands to explore. He played in the pool alot with me and papa..he loves the water and he was even kicking his feet like he was trying to swim.
Enjoying his smash cake...he had never had cake or sweets before. He loves fruit and eats healthy, but on ones birthday one needs to have a little cake..

Feels like Fall & Where we need to be

I woke up this morning to a slight chill in the air. 59 degrees outdoors. I had taken a light comforter off. And I missed it on my bed.    I will be unpacking a few fall outfits this weekend..

I love this weather! I hate the cold winter months and would enjoy this weather all year round.
We felt like Mexican food and went out to chilis for supper, it was pretty good.

Something came to mind yesterday...I think sometimes   God puts people in other people's lives right when they need them. My sister has a neighbor who is young with two small children. She works but only gets 30 hours a week. Her car is broken down and she has little or no family to help her. Her boyfriend works when she is off so they will not have to pay daycare for two children. The oldest does stay in daycare which is 135.00 a week. They have to struggle to make ends meet.
My sister helps with the children and takes her to work and picks her up when she ask.
My sister noted that the children have no toys, and the baby has no fall or winter clothes. He is about six months old.    The little girl is two years old. I mentioned that My grandson has more toys than he plays with and has outgrown alot of his clothes. .
I called and told my daughter all about them and she was more than happy to get rid of some of the things that they can't use.
So daughter will be loading up her car and those kids will have all kinds of nice things, kind of like an early Christmas,

I remember how hard it was when I was first married and we then had a new baby.   We both worked full time but had little money left after daycare, diapers, and formula. We never had one bit of help from our families.
Everywhere we went we took our baby with us. My mom or hubby's mom were both too busy or working to babysit except for a rare occasion.
I never forgot how it felt to be young with a little one. That is why I try to babysit and help out anytime they need me. A couple hours free can be a lifesaver to a tired overworked mom.
I have to hand it to people with more than one small child, I don't know how in the world you do it.
And staying home with a little one is more work than a full time job outside the home!
And it gets lonely,one needs some time with husband or other adults.

We just got back from the beach in S.C. The weather was wonderful. Nothing like spending time with your family and loved ones in a beautiful location. We went shopping, ate Seafood, and just spent time swimming and spending time out doors.

I loved the condo we stayed in. Wish that when hubby retires we could spend more time at the coast.
There is just something relaxing about the sea, and the salt air.
We arrived home today to tornado watches and rain. Back to reality.

Summer is almost over. We had no problems from the earthquake or Irene.
I have been busy this summer. Still had time for some fun.
I am looking forward to the long weekend ahead. Barbecue, sun, water, and good friends and family.
We all work too hard, worry to much. Need to make more time for the good times.

We sold our old car and bought a new Kia Sportage. I Love all the extra room. I had never wanted a SUV. But consumer reports gave this one a high rating, and hubby talked me into it.
I had thought of a Honda accord sedan, even found one I liked but this one is better for trips.
More room for the baby's car seat, and all the other things we take along when we travel.

I Have been shopping and can't believe Halloween mdse is already out! I did find two pairs of jeans and two tops I want to get for fall of the year. That is one thing I love is fall clothes and colors.
However I Shall miss my sundresses and flip flops I have lived in all summer. So cool and comfortable. I think I have fallen in love with dresses again.

I saw a couple cute ones in the catalogs today. Another kick I am on is cleaning out my makeup case.
I always use Clique and have for years, with the exception of myEB5 night cream I get at Penney's.
I Love it, and must say it really works for I do not have many lines or wrinkles.
Now If I can find some thing for those ugly brown spots on my face from sun damage. I could kick my self for all the years, I was out in the sun without sunscreen. I never leave the house anymore without it on my face.
I have even noticed a couple on my arms and hand. If any has found anything that works to get rid of those spots I would like to hear about it, Replenishing my makeup has taken some time, and more money than I had expected. It seems like keeping ones self up is hard and takes work and money. Especially after the age of 40.
I have bought a few things from Laura Geller, Laura Mercer, and Lancombe does have best mascara I have ever used. Nars has a good blush as well. For my eye shadow I stuck with my Clinique.

So that is a little bit of what I have been up to lately.

Hi... I am still around.

Been really busy. But read my favorite blogs when I can.

Remember that tiny baby? He is growing in leaps and bounds.

Our grandson is already seven months old!!! He is teething and chewing on his favorite stuffed toy an elephant we named peanuts. He has two bottom teeth and one coming in on top.

This picture was taken on Easter Sunday.

He loves to laugh and play. His favorite show is Sesame Street. He also loves jumping in his jumperoo and being sang to.

Life goes on in our neighborhood. It was in the 80's here today. Hot and humid. I was out running errands and so thankful for the air conditioning.

We have had thunderstorms and high winds but the tornadoes missed us.

My thoughts are with alle who have suffered devastation from the tornadoes and storms..

It scares me to death every time we have a warning on the TV.

I have never seen such weather in my lifetime. We don't have a basement. So my closet is where we stay when the storms get too bad. Alot of people have been without power. And large trees have fallen in town.

It really makes one stop and think.

My sister came and helped me get some things moved for the carpet men today.

It reminded me of when we moved into this house. At least the house got a good dusting and is fresh and clean. I cleaned out mycloset and hubby hauled several huge bags of clothes to the goodwill.

I am so thankful for her help. The new carpet looks wonderful. I had no idea until the new was down how worn out our old was.

We have lived in this house for 9 years. Time to remodel.

Next project in ordering cordless shades for sunroom. I will taje some before and after pics.

And making into a nice spot for us to relax and play with the baby.

I feel like my old self since my surgery.(Gallbladder)

I am so thankful that is done and over with.

And I have lost so much weight which is a nice plus.

I am reading a new book, Fever Crumb so I guess I better run..

Happy Good Friday.
Happy Earth Day.

It has been a long while since i updated blog.
Life has been keeping me very busy.
I had to have surgery 3 weeks ago. I am doing pretty good but still have not got my strength back.

Grandson is almost 7 months old now. He is so big now.
Sitting up by himself. Tottering around in his walker.
He has two big teeth coming in and is now eating baby food.
Everyone comments how happy and friendly he is.
He is the light of my life.

David just got home from New York. He had a great time. But said there were too many people. He saw Will Smith getting out of a car with his bodyguards.

The dogwoods are in full bloom and the yards full of spring flowers. I love this time of year.

It is late here. I should be in bed. But happened upon Anne of Green Gables. I read the books as a child.
But have never taken the time to watch the movie.
I have to say I like it. Kind of takes me back to a place in my childhood.

All is good here. Family is staying busy as work. And my little Bright blue eyed grandson is the light in my life. Some days he wears me to a frazzle, but then he smiles at me, and My heart just melts.

Many thing are changing in my life. Scary sometimes. But I know that it is in Gods hands and he has a plan for each of us.

I have been so busy, i don't get to be online as much. We are getting ready to do some work on our home.
I want to get our bedroom painted and hardwood floors put into the living room.
I would love to get in kitchen too, but not sure if it is in our budget.
I am wanting to get furniture for the sunroom/playroom . Maybe backsplash in kitchen.

It has been awhile...
Life has been keeping me pretty busy.
Here is a new picture of little one..
Just sleeping and hanging out....

Yes, Our Grandson has grown a bit since I last posted a picture.
He is now 3 months old.
he is a happy and good baby. Already outgrowing everything, he is growing so fast.
He laughs out loud and smiles all the time.
I never knew how much I would love being a grandma.
He is sleeping all night, yes I can't believe it, mine never slept all night until two years old.
But he is very awake during the day...bright eyed and curious about everything.
He is in constant motion, kicking and waving his little hands around.
I move him from the bouncer to the swing and the couch constantly.
He keeps us all busy.!!
He wears us all out, but we love it..he is a constant joy to all of our family.

I hope each of you had a wonderful New Year....

We are expecting snow tonight, Of course we went to the store..

I bought all kinds of good things to fix in case we have a big snow.

The kids are all excited.
I am ready for a snow day.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!!! We had some trick or treaters tonight, but not as many as last year. Alot of Churches had things for the kids.

Life has been very full and busy. I have not been blogging as much, but still am reading when I have time.
I babysat little BabyM Friday night. He was very good for his mi mi.
I love him so much!! It is amazing how fast he is growing. Some of his newborn sleepers are already getting small. He is now up to drinking 4 ounces every 3 hours. Sometimes every two.

His eyes just follow you around the room now, and he is smiling. And he puts his little hands on his bottle when you are feeding him like he is trying to hold it.
Both daughter and sil are doing a great job with him. I know they are exhausted though, that is why I try to help all I can.
My husband is just proud as can be, and David loves him so much. As I look into his little face I think of my parents and grandparents that we have lost and am comforted that a part of them lives on in him.
A new baby is such a miracle, a gift from god..

Can you believe it is almost Thanksgiving? All my magazines are arriving with turkeys and pies on the front covers. Where in the world is time going?
I guess I will have to start on my Christmas list and try to get some shopping done.

It is cooler here now in the mornings and at night. But we still have days you can wear shorts.
But I am not complaining, our powerbill went down $50.00.

It has been awhile since I posted. Ever since BabyM arrived I have been pretty busy.

I have not even had time to put my Halloween things out yet.

I got behind on everything since the excitement of the new baby.

I was at hospital and at sil and daughters house.

Hubby helped some, but he has been working alot too.

It seems like the more we do the more we have to get done..

I am wondering does anyone ever get laundry and housework caught up?

I woke to the sound of rain this morning. It felt so good just to snuggle down in my soft comforter and lay there and just letting my body rest. I did not have to go anywhere today.

I got to watch my favorite talk show and soap.

And just try to get laundy done.

The fridge was stocked, and I have a new book to read so I was happy.

I was just bone tired. you know the kind of tired that one feels when they just get too little sleep and go and run too much.

I feel much better after sleeping late.

There is a new place to eat in town. It is called The Mellow Mushroom.

I think hubby and I are going to have a date night.

Maybe a movie and out to dinner this weekend.

I think it is very important no matter how long you have been married just to make time to do things together that you both enjoy.

My new grandson is doing good. He got his check up which he passed with flying colors.

He has gained a pound and grown two inches since he was born.

I got to keep him yesterday for daughter to run some errands.

He was a good baby, but loves to eat. It seemed like everyytime I turned around I was fixing bottles or changing diapers.

He is starting to stay awake more and looks around with those big blue eyes at everything.

I enjoy our time together. It feels good to have a little one in my arms again.

After he left though, I was worn out. After a nap though, I felt better.

Daughter is doing really good. She is only 10 pounds heavier than when she got pregnant.

I think the getting up at night is really hard on her and sil.

He sometimes just wants to sleep all day and stay up at night.

I am sure some of you remember those 2-4-6 a.m. feedings?.

I am a night owl so it really doesn't bother me as much.

I think he is going to be a little night owl too.

I am trying to catch on reading your blogs. But don't have as much computer time.

I will try to comment when I do stop by.

At Last!

It has been awhile since I posted on this blog. But I have been kind of busy.
At last our new Grandson came into the world, via emergency c-section.
He ended up being a October baby!!! And he was due Sept 30th.
The had induced daughters labor, but she could not dilate enough for him to be born.
But baby M is doing wonderful. He is perfect.
Daughter is still kind of weak and tired from surgery, but is doing well as can be expected.
I have been staying with them for awhile to help out with new baby.
Which I loved every minute of. I could sit and hold him and just look at him for hours.
He weighed 6 lbs 11 oz. Was 19 1/2 inches long when he was born.
And the is the most precious and beautiful little boy.
We are so blessed. He is a really good baby too...
I am so happy, and love him so much. Being a grandmother is wonderful!

I tried to post pictures but they never would load. I will try again tomorrow.

Recipe share

This time of year I see pumpkins everywhere. This year I decided to bake something different for my family.

I have a book I had bought with recipes you can put in containers and give for gifts at Christmas.

This one is super easy and I have all the ingredients except for the pumpkin pie spice, and I am getting ready to go to market anyway so I can pick up some.

We are still waiting for baby......Still waiting...

Today is his due date.

It will be a surprise if he comes on time.

Poor daughter has just about gave up.

She has had contractions on and off for weeks.

She is hoping Dr. will tell her something tomorrow.

I am hanging on by a thread.

Did any of you watch Modern Family last night?

I like that show, it makes me laugh. Most of all I love seeing the houses they live in on the show.

I love the colors and how they have them decorated.

I am making my house a little more bright and cheerful with my fall decorations.

I found a fall wreath I am working on to put on the door.

Just little things make a big difference..

Pumpkin Bundt Cake

3. cups biscuit baking mix

1. cup packed brown sugar

1. cup white sugar

2 1/2 tsp. pie spice

1. cup powdered sugar

1 16oz can of pumpkin

In large bowl, combine biscuit mix, brown sugar, white sugar, and pumpkin pie spice, blend thoroughly.

Keep powdered sugar separate.

Now you need to following ingredients..

The pumpkin cake mix which is what you mixed above.

1/4 cup margarine softened

1/4 cup milk.

4 eggs beaten

1 16 oz can pumpkin

1 T milk

1/2 tsp vanilla

In large bowl combine cake mix, margarine, 1/4 cup milk, eggs and pumpkin

Beat on low for 30 seconds and on medium for 3 minutes.

Pour into a floured and greased bundt cake pan.

Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes clean.

Cool 10 minutes.

Turn upside down on a plate, remove pan.

Mix powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk and vanilla. Stir until smooth and then drizzle on cake.

One thing about a bundt cake, they are easy to make and look so pretty on your table.

Weekend is over..

I am sitting here listening to the rain. Yes, Rain! We have not had a good soaking rain like this in a long time.
No baby yet. All we can do is wait until the next Dr. appt or he decides it is time for him to make his entrance into this world.
Daughter is fine, just ready for baby. They bought batteries for his swing today. So he can listen to classical music or nature sounds or even heartbeat sounds while he swings. It amazes me how much baby things hav e improved and changed.
We have his swing and bouncer waiting at our house. I will be going to daughters to help her once he arrives. So not sure if I will have time to be online as much. .
His other grandmother is excited as well. It will be their first grandchild too. He is going to be one well loved little boy..
We had a nice family dinner today. Sil and daughter came. Country style steak. chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and peas.
And apple pie for dessert. Hopefully this time next week little one will be with us.
David has been so excited. It is killing him that they are not telling anyone the name until he gets here.

Endless Summer

Another hot day here. High of 92 degrees. It seems like this is an endless summer.

I tossed us a chef salad tonight for supper. Hubby grilled a couple chicken breast and hamburgers.

So that was our supper, so good on a hot day like today.

That is one thing I like about the warm weather, he likes to grill.

I have been wanting a good tuna melt but have never made one.

If any has a good recipe I would like to have it.

Years ago there was a little diner that my Mother and I would stop at when we were shopping.

They had the best tuna melt with cheese.

Don't know why but I thought of that today.

No change on the baby front. Dr. saw daughter today.

She said there is a full moon on Thursday, and she has seen it to be true more babies are born when there is a full moon.

So we all are hanging in there. Nothing to do but wait.

I have been achy and joints hurting lately.

Not sure what is going on.

Dr wants me to start on a new medication called Cymbalta.

I am not going to start it now, I am kind of wary of new meds.

With baby due any day, I don't want to risk side effects or any kind of change in meds.

But maybe after baby comes.

I went over to visit daughter and I am amazed at how many nice gifts keep coming from friends and family, some from out of state. .

Some she doesn't really know, her husbands grandfathers niece sent the most beautiful handmade quilt for baby. It just warms my heart that so many people are happy for this new life coming into the world.

And helping him get a good start in life.

I am so thankful that there is still good people in this old world.

We are very blessed.

Well think I will watch Dancing with the Stars.

A close call

Had a close call today. Hubby and I were on our way home from picking up dinner at Outback.

A woman almost hit us in her SUV. She was driving on the wrong side of the road!

Hubby laid down on the horn and swerved. No other cars were on the road. I don't know if she was talking on her cell phone or drunk or what?

Made me just feel sick. Brought back memories of another wreck.\

Just a reminder to be on guard and watch out for the other driver!

Other news...

No baby yet. Daughter said she had painful contractions all night long. She and her husband got no sleep.

Then today she felt fine..No contractions all day. She even walked on her treadmill 10 minutes.,

Her poor belly is so big, I just don't know how it can get any bigger.

She can't barely eat much, and has to try to eat 5 small meals a day.

They could feel the baby's head, he is in the birth position.

Last Wednesday her Dr said she was 40% effaced, and dilated 1 centimeter.

She has had contractions now for a week!

I have never heard of this happening to anyone.

I guess you can't rush Mother nature.

She will be 39 weeks Wednesday.

I can't wait until her next Dr,visit if she can wait that long. I just hope and pray he will be OK, and she will as well.

We appreciate all kind thoughts and prayers.

ouch...how can something so little hurt so much?

One doesn't think about their toes or feet much unless they are shopping for shoes or their feet hurt . I often think when I see someone who dances the ballet how much their feet must hurt, walking on toes so much.

No I wasn't dancing the ballet today, but vacuuming the carpet in living room, when I stumped my pinkie toe on the Ottoman. Yes, I did dance around and said a few choice words.

I told hubby I think it is broken. He just looked at me and shook his head.

Well they can't do anything for a broken toe he says.

When he was in HS he broke a toe and could not get his cleats on to play football.

Oh well, live and learn.

Hot and dry day..

I Love Sunflowers. Such a happy flower. I planted some at my deck one year that was a dark burgundy color. I have a picture on my other computer which is not working. I wish I would have printed out some of those photos.
No Sunflowers here. Everything looked brown and dry when I was going down the road today.
It is hot during the day. But turns cooler at night and the early morning.
We badly need rain. But none is in the forecast for the next 5 days.
I actually put on a my favorite comfy soft flannel PJ's. Not very sexy but you can't beat them for cooler nights.
This has been a hard week. I have been on pins and needles and spent many a sleepless night.
When my stress level gets this high it is hard for me to sleep.
Daughter had to leave work the other day. She was hurting really badly. And no baby yet.
We wait. When he is ready he will arrive or they will have to do a c-section. She is still having contractions and when I spoke to her tonight they were timing them.
I expect a phone call any time now, and keep my cell phone by my side every time I go somewhere.

I am a worrier when it comes to my family. I wish I could be like some and not have it faze me.
I am staying busy and trying to distract myself. Hubby is worried too, but unlike me it doesn't make him have insomnia. When I don't sleep, It makes me cranky and out of sorts the next day.
I have been sorting clothes and started packing some summer things up. I have a bookcase in my room that is looking kind of dusty, so that will be my next project.
I did go to Penney's to return the curtains I had ordered. They sent the wrong color. Good help is hard to come by this day and time let me tell you. And I hate when it happens and hubby is with me, he gets so angry.
We got the crib up, mobile on crib. Next we will hang curtains when they come in. I will wait and wash his bedding and put on crib once he is born. I think his room will be a peaceful happy place,. for when he comes to visit...

Time for fall decorations.

We had a nice Sunday. Beautiful weather after our rain last night. I slept so much better listening to the rain.
I got our fall decorations put out. It really brightened up our home.
It is a little something I have always done with the change of seasons.
I think My fourth grade teacher got me started. She loved changing the bulletin boards around, and her classroom always had pretty and interesting things to look at. And I was the one who got to help her most.
I could draw pretty well, and sometimes she had me draw a Muriel and then the other kids would help paint it. I wish my mom would have taken some pictures of it.

We took our dog to Pet Smart and got her groomed & a haircut.. She looks so much better and acted proud of her new blue bows. They do a wonderful job, but it cost more for her haircut than mine!

On the baby news, no not yet. But daughter has had contractions on and off all weekend. She did not hardly sleep at all last night for hurting. I think it can happen any day now.
I thank god for her husband, he is wonderful. Takes very good care of her. She looks good though, just tired of hurting. She and her husband brought the crib over today for our house.
Her friends gave it to them, it looks like new. I am very thankful for such good friends.

My best friend called me tonight. She lives in Canada. She said it was in the 40's there.
I could not imagine. Everyone is still in shorts here. It is hot!

Don't you just love Saturday?  hope each of you is having a good one.
Hubby is watching football.

David is eating a bowl of lucky charms
while watching Who's the boss.
Funny how he likes those old programs I use to watch.

No daughter has not had the baby, but she has dilated 1 centimeter.
And is having mild contractions.
So we are just waiting til he gets ready to come and meet us all.

It looks like it may rain? It has been cloudy and drizzling all morning.

We are having movie and pizza night. We got a couple movies from Netflix.
One of them is date night.    I am going to do a load of laundry and dust and vacuum, and that is about all the housework I am doing today.

I went to the Dr.yesterday and had a skin check. I ended up having a couple brown spots on my face frozen, and a mole removed on my arm.
All those years of laying out in the sun.
Back when I was a teen we used baby oil and would sunbathe for hours.   Now I am paying for it.

Well time to get busy..going to enjoy a nice glass of sweet tea with lemon first.

I wish it would rain. Everything is getting so dry and brown. I am going to break out my fall decorations.
See if that cheers up the house some.
I just finished the book "Angelina" By Andrew Morton. I don't know how true it is, but it was a pretty depressing book. I have never really been a fan of hers.  I wish her and the children the best, but it reads like she had a sad and troubling life. I hope she never goes back to the lifestyle that she use to have.

We have a movie from Netflix we are watching tonight. Date Night. We watched the back up plan with Jennifer Lopez. It was kind of cheesy but good. Then we watched The wolf man. I have to say for those werewolf fans, that was the best makeup and costume I have ever seen.   That man really looked real.
Too scary for kids though.

I am heading out to Library and to get a bite to eat. My allergies have been giving me headaches, and i have not felt good for the past two days.

No baby yet. I told my daughter she is going to be the death of me. I called to check on her, and she told me she was wrapped in her pregnancy body pillow. And was not moving because the way she was laying, she was not in pain for the first time all day. She is suffering I know, but Another time she said her belly was on fire, baby was growing so fast. I have never heard such carrying on. She is still working full time, and I hope and pray her Dr. will put her at half days or on maternity leave. That baby is in the birth position and she is carrying so low, that she can barely walk. And baby is big, she is a lot bigger than I was when i had her.
I am thinking she may have to have a c-section.
I have not been sleeping good at night for worrying about it.
I am going to Dr. tomorrow for a skin check. I am kind of dreading it. My dad died from melanoma so I have to really watch out for suspicious moles.
I know i have a couple that will be removed.  It is so cloudy here, but hot. I am so ready for fall.

All my tags and photos are on my computer. But it has been acting up and hubby unhooked it and now I am using his. I snagged this tag from Missie's tag blog. I thought you guys would like the yummy looking icecream. I don't think I have ever had a cone that big..Usually I am a one scoop or two scoop gal.
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Ours was good. Just went by too quickly.
Saturday I did laundry and went shopping with hubby for him, new shoes and clothes.
He found some really good deals at Penney's. He bought new jeans, a couple shirts for fall and a pair of New Balance shoes. He really likes that brand.
Daughter is still hanging in there. She is tired alot and her allergies are bothering her so she is staying in mostly. I did not get to see her this weekend. Sil parents were in, and I did not want to interfere with their time with them.
They live about 3 hours away. She has a great set of in laws, they helped them get some things done for when baby comes home.
Hubby finished painting the nursery here. I ordered curtains at Penney's, a nice shimmery blue. I think the color was seaside blue or sea mist blue. I think it will contrast pretty with the say brook paint.

Since it was labor day and I informed hubby I was not doing any labor today.
We decided to go out for dinner instead of grilling out. We went to Chili's. We all had the fajitas.
Salsa and warm chips. It was so good, and the service was excellent. I told hubby to make sure and tip the waitress well. I use to be a waitress when I was in High School. I never forgot it and always try to be kind and treat the wait staff well. Some places do not have the best help though, so when we get a good one, I
really appreciate it. My motto has always been if you have a job, any job, do it well.
I use to enjoy working in the kitchen too. I would make salads and put the finishing touches on the plates of pasta. We had great fun while we worked. It was a little Italian family run business.

Lately hubby and I have discussed how money does not go very far anymore. Everything is going up and up and up. Our power bill jumped $50.00 last month. Groceries have really went up. I have not been using my coupons lately at grocery store and it shows. We spent $68.00 on Monday, and then turned around on Friday and spent $138.00 more. And almost everything I bought was on sale. Sometimes I think we could eat out cheaper than I can cook. But it would not be as healthly and more calories, I guess.
I did stock up on paper products and then our dog needed snacks and dog food.
I have some really good blogs I read on coupons.
It seems like the days have just been so busy lately. I have a stack of new magazines waiting to be read. And coupons waiting to be clipped, and a flowerbed that needs weeding. The inside of both cars need cleaning out. Hubby did his truck. And I did run my car through the wash this weekend. It does pretty good.

I went to Sally's beauty today and purchased a couple new hair brushes. I love that store. They have so many neat things. I had not been in one in years. If you need any hair products they are much cheaper than buying at the grocery store or Dept stores. When I got my hair hi-lighted and cut Saturday, my hair dresser had the best brush. It seemed like my hair just fell into place when I used it.
I just got hair cut in a bob, . I like it because I can wear it wavy or flat iron it.
I have had straight hair my entire life and all of a sudden it started getting curly and wavy this summer.
Go figure?? Must be hormones or something. Life is just full of surprises.

I have always wanted a pup like this one.

I think they have such personality.

I had a busy day. I went and got my hair lightened and cut. Nothing majorly different, just a bob.

No baby yet. The Dr. checked daughter and said she could feel the babies head and her cervix is thinning out and getting soft.

It could be tomorrow or it could be a month.

So we will just have to wait and see.

Soon as he comes I will post a picture.

The other evening it cooled off, so I took an old towel out to my flowerbed and was pinching the blooms off flowers and pulling a few weeds. I still have quite a bit more that needs to be done. It is more than I can do though with my knees like they are.

Afterwards I watered everything and it really perked up my flowers.

Then today our next door neighbor told hubby that a copperhead raised up and was staring at him from their flowerbed! He ran to get a shovel and it was gone.

I don't think I will be in my flowerbed anymore.

I am buying mothballs to try and deter snakes.

Does anyone else know of anything that will keep a snake away?

I have a feeling this crib will be holding a sweet baby before long. Daughter is heading to Dr. office.
Bless her heart she is still working. She told me today her ankles are swelling and she don't know what is going on. She can barely walk. I had mentioned us going to babies r us this weekend, and she said she could not stand on her feet long enough to shop.
I am thinking they may have to take baby ealry. I need to make sure to pack a bag of stuff for me to take to hospital. For some reason I am thinking baby will be born at night or the wee hours of the morning.

I will be waiting by the phone today.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that Hurricane Earl doesn't hit our Carolina Coast.
My husband thinks we have nothing to worry about, that it will miss us or go back out to sea.
I reminded him of Hurricane Hugo. He said the same thing then. And we had trees down everywhere.
The entire town was shut down, we had no power for a week! Power lines were across roads and everything. Hardware stores were trying to rip people off on chainsaws and generators.

Now the sun is out and it is so hot outside. I need to try and weed out my flowerbed. But it is just too hot.
I still have some petunias and impatients blooming. I am fixing a crock pot of pinto beans, with county ham. . Getting ready to bake a pan of cornbread and make slaw or turnip greens.
Then I am going to slice up a plate of cucumbers, spring onions, and tomatoes and that will be our supper.

Here is a Afghan my best friend sent for the baby. A real grandmother crochet this.
She gave daughter two for her shower a blue one and this one. I use to crochet when daughter was a baby but never mastered any thing this nice. Now I just do not have time. I would like to find someone to make some pretty little hats for him to wear this winter.

I told daughter I wanted this one to wrap baby up in at my house. She got an abundance of blankets at her showers. Hard to think of blankets when it is 94 outside.
Drats! The biggest yellow butterfly was outside my window, but by the time I got camera it was gone.
I just noticed the date on this camera is wrong. I just took these pictures of the afghan.
Oh well~

Here is a little glimpse of the room after hubby painted Saturday. The color is Saybrook Sage. (Benjamin Moore brand. I think we are going to paint molding a crisp white color. I want to do room in underneath the sea/beach theme. And yes there is David, holding up a couple fish we are putting on the walls once we get curtains and crib in place. He rarely lets me get a picture without making a face. David is now taller than me. 5'9" I think. And he is only 15! I just can't believe how fast kids grow up.
Boys grow so much faster than girls..It is hard to keep them in shoes and clothes when they are a teen.

Today was a beautiful day.. Sunny skies. Daughter surprised me and came over after work.
I was told to quit looking at her with that worried look on my face. I am shocked at how much bigger baby gets each week. It doesn't look like there is much room for him to move around. She is little everywhere but belly. And her belly looks huge.
I told her I am her Mother it is my job to worry about her. I will be glad once baby gets here and she can breathe and not be so uncomfortable. It is especially hard with the humid weather and as dry and hot as our state has been this summer.

Did anyone see True blood last night? I can't believe we have to wait two more weeks to see what happens!! They better not take Alexander Skarsgard off the show, or I will be mad.
I don't like the show as good as the books, but it is interesting.
I like Stephen Moyer as a actor as well. He and his new bride were looking good at the Emmy's last night.
(Anna Paquin) who plays Sookie is now his wife.

Oh well it is time for me to get off of here. Got some things to get done before bed..

Summer

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was busy but fun. The weather was beautiful.
We got lots done around our house. I slept late Saturday, and hubby has been hard at work painting.
The babies room is done except for one wall. He ran out of paint... The room is a good size room. That is one thing I got when we bought this house was big bedrooms.
It turned out so pretty. Benjamin Moore Saybrook Sage is the color we used. It is the same color that is in my kitchen but looks an entirely different color. I am going looking for curtains this weekend.
And have some Nemo prints I am ordering. Sil is bringing the crib soon as he can go pick it up.
A good friend of his has one he is no longer needing. So all I have to buy is the mattress. I have bought blanekets and sheets. And a mobile.
Daughter and sil bought some items they will need for babys home coming. Like a thermometer, cotton balls and such. The count down is on!! .
Saturday I did three loads of laundry. I  cleaned & dusted the house. David helped me vacuum. Hubby mowed the lawn after he painted. Then I went and picked up steaks from outback steakhouse.  I loved the salad, pecan chopped . We did not feel like waiting in line so got our order to go..
So we ate and then watched a movie for family time.. A Family Wedding was the movie. It was pretty funny. David got as kick out of the goat in the movie..

Today we packed up somethings to get rid of, our house is slowly getting more neat and organized.
I really want to get the carpet removed and hardwood floors put down.( wishful thinking I guess) I think hubby and David want carpet. I would like to get new curtains and maybe some bamboo blinds or shades for our sun room.
I want to make it into a little den, with room for baby to play.
This is on my wish list. I know we can't do it now, but hope we can fit into budget in near future.

David wants to paint his room red. I told him maybe one wall, but I am afraid he will never get to sleep in a red room. Maybe if 3 of the walls are a neutral color. I just could not imagine being able to sleep in a red bedroom. At first he wanted to paint it black. I said no way. Maybe his comforter could be black.   Three of the walls a nice brown, and then a dark red on one?
Teens are just full of ideas.

Daughter is hanging on...I will be much relived to see what Dr. says this week.  She is good.

A few pictures...

The crib is ready.

                                      Baby has clothes tucked away in the drawers.
                                    The closet is packed full.
                                      He is going to be one well dressed little man.
                                      So many lovely gifts chosen with care.
                                       We are all so excited.

The baby showers are over..

We had lots of good food, and good friends and family to show up to welcome baby.

So many warm wishes and wonderful gifts for the little one on the way.

The Paula Deen punch was a big hit.

I will post recipe tomorrow.

But this was the my favorite part!

Butter pound cake with buttercream icing.

So now it is just a waiting game until little one arrives.

I am keeping phone handy at all times.

Can't wait to hold and meet my first grandson.

The shower was a huge success. Daughter has not downloaded pictures yet. I took with her camera.
Our little grandson got so many wonderful gifts. Including a 5 foot Giraffe for his room.
I could not get over how many wonderful friends and family showed up. I got to see some girls I had not seen in years. And if course my favorite cousins came. They even bought the baby a spa/bathtub combo.
With a cute blueberry smelling rubber duck. And a ac/dc shirt and another cute outfit. She got diapers/a bouncer. Beautiful handmade Afghans, all kinds of baby clothes, bibs, blankets. She has got everything she needs except for baby bottles. He is going to be one lucky little boy.
The food/cake all turned out good. I will post pictures later. I am beat. Been up since early this morning.
Getting things ready. .Daughter is happy but tired as well.
I am so thankful some of her friends helped.
And my punch (Paula Deen's recipe) was a huge hit. I had 3 cups. myself..
If you are having a party that is the one to try.

Late night musings

I think this is the Dog Days of summer. 100 once again. Just getting into the car or walking across the parking lot is like walking in a oven. We are enjoying cold drinks, sandwiches, and fruit at our house.
Just too hot to cook. Or even have an appetite. Husband has lost 10lbs without trying.
I am trying and can't tell I have lost one pound..

We had something quite alarming happen here this week. Some kind of wild animal came up on our deck and clawed or ripped our dogs bed that was out there to shreds.
There have been some bears in our area, and now husband says that was what it was. I don't know what it is but I will not be going outdoors at night anymore.

I am so excited about the shower this weekend. I got everything ready to take to daughters house.
Except the cake which I am picking up later. It looks like we are going to have a pretty good turnout.
I am thankful her friends are helping me. I will be sure and take pictures.
I look at the ultra sound picture and just can't believe that we are getting ready for our first grandchild.
Everyone is excited.

PUPPY LOVE

Is this not the cutest little pup ever?

I would love to have a new puppy.

A tiny little one to call my own.

Oh well, at least I have a baby on the way.

I went to daughters and helped her vacuum and take off the tags on all the newborn clothes and blankets.

I could not believe how much stuff she got at her showers. And still has the one I and her friends are giving her.another one coming up this weekend. But it takes so much for a baby.

Hubby put together the mobile, and David and sill put together the swing.

I was so much fun looking at those clothes. and trying to imagine someone that tiny.

We sent out for chicken and had a nice dinner together,

David and I came home and made two chocolate pies.

It was a great day.

Hubby is doing pretty good after his surgery.

Still a grouchy though which gets on my last nerve.

I am easy going and just try to live life without sweating the small stuff.

He seems like he gets angry so easy.

Over the slightest thing.

I try to just over look it, but some days it is hard.

Wonder why some people are like that?

Another hot day in the South.

Heat index is 104. It is 95 degrees.

There is a heat advisory on the bottom of the TV.

I am looking at cakes today for daughters shower.

Look at this one. I am tyring to imagine it for a boy.

I am taking hubby back to ortho Dr. He needs to get bandage changed,

Then I have to take him to our family Dr. tomorrow.

That means 4 days in a row at Dr.offices.

Next week should be better..no appointments!

I am happy to say husband's surgery is over with.

He was in pain earlier but took his pain medicine and is resting now.

This has been a rough week. My head has hurt all day, and I can tell my blood pressure is up. Went to the outpatient surgery office at 8:00 a.m.

He did not get taken back for surgery until 11:00.

We got out of there after 12:00.

I must say baby boomers joints and bodies are wearing out.

They had a full house. The Dr. did 5 other patients surgeries before my husbands.

Yesterday while at the orthopedic Dr. office it was full.

I must say you see all kinds of things in the waiting room.

One poor teen got thrown off a horse.

His leg was broken and twice its size.

Another man came in with his entire leg in a big bag of ice.

He was in a wheel chair and they took him straight back.

Makes me thankful that I am walking seeing all those people hurt.

I did stop by Bojangles and had a large iced tea and a sausage biscuit on the way home.

I love their tea and biscuits! We sometimes get chicken there as well.

Poor daughter is having a time of it. The heat, and the baby is up under her ribs and making it hard for her to breathe. She goes to her Dr. tomorrow.

I hope and pray she is all right.

If she could just get a good nights rest, it would help her so much.

She is wanting to work up to the week before her due date.

I just don't see how she is going to do it.

She is all baby, and that baby is growing fast.

I would not be surprise if she doesn't end up on bed rest before her due date.

I am hanging in here though, that is all one can do.

Going to bed with a new book..hoping it will help me unwind and be able to sleep myself.

Look out world! There will be a new driver at our house soon!

Check out this jeep Cherokee/ walker our grandson got at his baby shower over the weekend!

His great grandpa bought it for him.

Daughter said they called him and tooted the horn over the phone so he could hear it.

I can just imagine him tearing through the house in it.

Daughter loved hers. She would be in every nook and cranny in her walker, almost turned it over a time or two.

31 weeks.

I have a big picture like this on my fireplace.

I bet I have looked at it a thousand times.

He has the sweetest little face.

I love him so much already.

I was worried yesterday. Daughter called me from work.

She was having pain and discomfort..

She called her Dr. and she said that was normal.

I think she must have over done it when she traveled out of town over the weekend.

She felt fine today she said. I guess baby was just moved on a nerve or something.

He is growing so fast...I can't remember going through some of what she is going through and kind of feel at a loss at what to tell her. I guess everyone is different.

I think her being petite makes it harder.

I am keeping the phone by my side 24 hours a day.

I pray that he stays put until it is time.

Wish me luck tomorrow, hubby has surgery on his hand tomorrow.

Hopefully it will go quickly.

Nice kind of day. It cooled off somewhat.

I hope all of you had a nice weekend. Ours was pretty good.

We went out to Applebees for dinner, it was really good.

I had the shrimp spinach salad and garlic mashed potatoes.

Then we went and visited daughter and sil.

She was showing me some of the baby things she got at her shower.

Her mil and one of her college roommate's gave her one out of town, where sil's family lives..

Baby is just about set. He even got a ball glove!

Clothes, swing, boppy, blankets, toys, books.

One thing she did not get was crib sheets or bottles.

Hopefully she will get the rest of what she needs at the shower I am giving her.

We mostly stayed home the rest of the weekend.

Got somethings done around here done.

I did get my haircut and made a trip to the Library.

We got some rain yesterday and last night.

For which I am very grateful.

School is starting back here in a couple weeks.

I know some sleepy headed kids that are going to be hard to get up in the mornings.

Hope this next year ahead will be a good one for all of us.

It is hard to keep up with the blogs I read and my own this time of year.

It seems there is not enough hours in the day.

Yesterday we as a family went to see how the baby was growing.

It is amazing how much detail one can see with the 3 D ultra-sound.

I will post some pictures Sunday. Got to let the other grandmother see first.

I had plans of trying to freeze some veggies and maybe can some green beans from the produce market. Sad to say it did not get done this week.

I have a batch of silver queen corn, and homemade spaghetti sauce needing to be frozen.

By the time I got my hair cut and bought groceries, it was getting late.

I met daughter for supper at the Wild Wok. It is Thai food, which I love.

I had the sweet and sour chicken, and she had the orange peel chicken.

I love their rice. It has the best flavor..

Tomorrow Pooh bear has to go to the vet. Time for her shots.

And then a bath once again.

Then I have water aerobics class. It really helps my back.

And even my knees don't feel quite as sore and stiff.

I am tired today. I was on my feet too much.

I think we are going to start on painting this weekend.

I may see if my sister can help.

Hubby still has problems with his shoulder and has to have surgery on his hand next week.

I will be taking care of him, so this week am trying to get as much done as I can.

I have to try to work a Dr. apps in there somehow. I have a growth like a mole on my arm that is unusual shaped. My dad died from melanoma, so I have to be careful.

Please check your skin, or go to dermatologist.

My Dad was always healthy, never sick a day in his life.

He was fair skinned and gray eyed, and had dark blond hair.

He died at age 54. He had a mole on his back that he ignored, even when it kept getting bigger. By the time he got it removed it has spread.

He missed so many good years because of this.

On happier news, the baby has the sweetest little cheeks, and a cute dimple.

In one photo it looked like he was smiling. He has daughters lips, and mine, for that is where she takes hers after. I think his face is shaped like sil. Not sure about the nose?? Lol...

He is so cute.

Life is a miracle for sure.

Weekend recap.

Yesterdays yard sale was a huge success! I was so happy to get rid of those clothes and items we no longer use. And the extra money will help with the baby's nursery at Mi Mi's house.

Daughter and sil came over and were a big help. Of course we chose the hottest day of the year it felt like. But we hid out in the garage and drank lots of water and lemonade.

Something funny happened. I had a couple of those deer that look like they are made of wicker, and they were bent and half the lights did not work. Hubby sat that and a computer desk that use to belong to daughter when she was at home out at the curb to be picked up with the trash.

He happen to look out today and the deer were gone. Then tonight when he walked our dog the desk was gone! So glad someone could use it and it would not be in the landfill.

David was a big help. He carried T.V.s. Books, shoes you name it.

He is a good worker if you can get him started.

Today we rested, then went and did out grocery shopping.

Then I tossed a salad and made some loaded baked potatoes, and hubby grilled a couple rib eyes. We had watermelon for dessert, but we were all to full to eat any for dessert.

Then I cleaned kitchen and straightened up the house.

I try to do my housework during the week, so on weekends we can relax and enjoy family time. So I just did a quick pick up from all the yard sale traffic.

I feel so much better now that is over.

I found almost a whole gallon of Saybrook sage paint left over from when we had the kitchen painted. I have been looking online and think the baby's room would do better in a sage green with blue. I took some shells and starfish and held up to see how it would match and it did perfect.

Sil brought over a mobile for the crib that is sea creatures.

Daughter and he just about have the nursery finished at their house.

I can't wait to go see all that they have done since I was there last.

Daughter is doing good. Baby is kicking up a storm.

And I am a little startled when I see how much bigger he has gotten in just one week.

Both my husband I think that baby will come early.

I just hope it is only a few weeks. Or that I am wrong.

Well it is late and David is wanting to print out a picture..

Heatwave hit

The heatwave is taking its toll on people. I see no children outdoors. My doorbell has been silent.
David has mostly been on his laptop, or watching TV. One can't bear to be out in it. 99 degrees, and heat factor is 105. The humidity is what bothers me.
I went and picked up a pizza from Pizza Hut. We have our central air on 70.
I am loving the fruit Popsicle's by Breyers. I am getting ready to try the orange/strawberry one.
I have been busy this week marking the items we are putting in yard sale. I don't know how I will make out tomorrow. I found some nice things with tags still on them. And I am trying to get rid of things if I have not wore in the past year.

I can't stand all this stuff in my house. Husband has boxes every where. We did not get to have yard sale last weekend. I don't see how people who hoard things bear it. It is very depressing and makes me crazy. I will feel so much better when yard sale is over.

Hot sticky day in July. Now it is thundering and the sun is shining. Odd weather we are having. I love summer, but the thick hot air makes it hard on us with allergies. I usually am outdoors this time of year. But this summer have spent more time in with the air conditioning. They cut the hay close to our house, and that makes my asthma flare up.
Thank goodness for Clariton.
Husband and I found a really good deal on the baby a swing and a bouncer seat. We are keeping these here at our house. Daughter will have her own at her home.
That way we will not have to drag stuff back and forth.
It amazes me what they have out there for little ones now!
These play rain forrest sounds,. music and have flashing lights. I think he will enjoy it.
Well better run, looks like storm is moving in.

Tag by Missie

Weekend is just about over. We had a good one.

Yesterday I had lunch with daughter. We ate at Olive Garden.

We both had the new steak pasta dish.

It was very good, but not as good as the Chicken and shrimp Cabonara which I love.

Then went by Belk. They had great sale on.

I bought some baby outfits for daughters shower. She loved invitations I chose for her baby shower. I am using the Paula Deen punch recipe. Ordering the cake, fixing a cheeseball, veggie tray. chips, dips... A couple of her friends are doing the rest.

I am excited, we are going to have a good time with all kinds of great foods.

The invitations are in the mail.

One of her college friends went in to labor on the day of her baby shower and gave birth the very same day!

I just hope little one waits until after showers to make his appearance.

Daughter has been having Braxton Hicks contractions, and alot of back pain.

I am worried about her.. I have a feeling she will go early.

Things she is feeling now, I did not feel until the 9th month.

I hope I am wrong.

She goes back to Dr. this week. I am going with her, and will feel better after Dr. checks her and the second ultrasound is done.

Our life is always full of surprises it seems.

I stayed home mostly today.

Started to go to pool, but just did not feel well.

I think I did too much this past week.

We are all enjoying the fresh veggies out of the gardens.

No we don't have one, but there is a little farm close to our house that sells them at a little stand.

Today we had green beans with a spicy hamhock.

Fried squash, and baked barbecue pork chops.

So easy to make and so good.

I had to laugh at our dog for she sat with her nose pointed toward the kitchen while the green beans were cooking. I think she enjoys smelling good food just like I do.

Reminds me of Sunday dinners at Grandmothers house.

Well the wind is kicking up and sky is dark.

I hear thunder in the distance.

Hope we get rain.

Summer Love.

Don't you just love summer.

Here are a few of my favorite things about summer.

Crisp cold salad, with fresh veggies from the gardens.

A cold Milkshake after supper.

Grilling out shrimp, chicken or steak..

Easy, taste wonderful and no kitchen to clean up.

Water parks with wave pools. I always stay too long and get sunburned, but have so much fun while I am there. I am on one of those tubes in picture.

Even as much as I love summer, guys it sure is hot here today!

How hot is it? Hot enough the chickens are laying fried eggs!

No, not really but 94 and the humidity is like 110.

It is so hot the dog doesn't even want to go outdoors unless it is early or late in the evening.

I am making a pasta salad, a garden salad and hubby is grilling hot dogs and hamburgers this evening. I may get ambitious and make a Heavenly Chocolate pie.

We watched The Bounty Hunter last night with Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler..

It was a cute movie but kind of long.

I have two books I am reading.

Depends on which room I am in.

Mad Girls in Love by Michael Lee West.

Another one is My name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliviero.

I will let you know how they were when I get finished reading.

I am so busy though it is hard for me to get to time to read until I get in bed.

Then I get too sleepy.

We had bad storms here yesterday. Thunder, rain, a couple funnel clouds were spotted.

We had no trees down, but some others did in our town.

We needed the rain, but today everything is dry as a bone once again.

I still love summer, but don't like the storms or the humidity.

I feel bad for my daughter who is pregnant...She is not out in it long at a time though, but still getting in and out of the car to go anywhere just drains you.

I keep telling her time is going by quickly, baby will be here before long.

She is cute as a button in her little shorts sets though..

It amazes me how much he (Baby) grows in one weeks time.

Rainy stormy days are here. We were under flood and tornado watch yesterday. I think more rain is on the way. I know we need the rain. The gardens here are drying up. I have ached and been sore all over for the past few days. My knees especially. Nothing seems to cause these flare ups they just happen.
Not sure if it is the weather or if I over did it this weekend. I did not sleep well last night. Got up early and started watching a movie called Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon.

He is an amazing actor. He can play any part. Still good looking too.
I went to dentist yesterday. Got two fillings. I am so thankful for dental insurance.
My bill was $441.00, My co-pay was 92.00. It seems some of my old fillings need replacing. And a few tiny cavities. I try to take very good care of my teeth, so will be glad when all dental work is done.
I am thinking of buying the new sonic care toothbrush. Have any of you tried it?
My TMJ is some better..but dentist wants me to get some expensive mouth guard to sleep in.

I told my husband yesterday, I feel like I am just worn out. Take care of your body, and it will take care of you.. i wish I would have taken care of myself sooner. I burned the candle at both ends for years, and it catches up with you. Well better get busy lots of things to get done.

Monday Morning Hello

Well the weekend is over. Hope everyone had a good one. We worked some at home, went swimming.
Went to Outback steakhouse for dinner. Watched a couple movies. Went to the Market, bought groceries.
So looking back it was a pretty good weekend.

David went to a concert this weekend. Daughter is doing good. It is a little shocking each week seeing how big baby is getting.!!! Hubby and I went and bought a baby swing and bouncer for our house. Both are the rainforest's theme. Plays music, has lights etc...gosh we did not have things like this when daughter was little.
It really sank in after seeing baby things in my living room that our baby will be here soon. I spent a sleepless night pondering that one.
Baby's great grandpa bought him a new car seat /stroller....daughter said it really was strange seeing that at her house too! She put her old teddy in it. She and sil are so happy and excited about their new baby on the way. The crib is up..baby showers scheduled. Now it is the waiting game..A couple more months.

So we have much to be thankful this Monday.

It has been many years since I rode a roller coaster. I use to love them. My poor husband was a good sport and got on one with me once.

His face turned white as a sheet, and when he got off he told me, Never Again!

I hope no one ever caught the expression on our faces that day.

We were at the beach.

We had went to Calabash, to a wonderful seafood buffet.

Then decide to walk off some calories after our meal.

Our friends Bill and Laurie begged us to ride.

Bill ended up behind a tent sick as he could be after he got off the ride.

Laurie and I were laughing so hard at those two.

Husband might want to go but it seems like every year I go to the fair I end up sick afterwards. I always tell him it is all the germs from all those people from faraway, or the rides, or something. I do like looking around at the exhibits, and the animals.

David will go with his friends, I don't really want to go.

The fair just isn't as much fun once you are a grown up.

I still might have him bring me a candy apple back.

We went swimming today...so relaxing, but it wore me out.

David enjoyed the slide, and went down it several times.

We came home and I fixed coleslaw, and baked beans.

Hubby tossed some hotdogs on the grill, and I heated up some chicken and burgers we had from Fridays cookout.

We have ate good this 4th.

And a big Thank you to all our men and women in the armed forces who have or are fighting for our freedoms.

We are so lucky to live in America.

Sure we have our problems, but if you have ever been overseas or have family who has been I am sure you realize how blessed we are.

We had fun day with our family.

Steaks, salad, red potatoes, zucchini and onions.

And my banana pudding for dessert.

The fireworks are still going off near by every now and again.

The big ones behind our house was last night.

They were good but not quite as good as last year. Not sure if it was because it has been so dry or what.

Happy 4th of July!

Good friends, family, barbecue's, fireworks.

All fun things many of us are enjoying.

I hope each of you has a good one!!

I am loving spending time with my family.

Today it was warm, yet pleasant.

I went to the market and bought filets, and stuff for a dessert for the 4th.

David just got home from a trip,. and is now enjoying playing with all the other boys in the neighborhood. They caught a frog today and brought it in for me to see.

One never knows what those boys will find or get into.

Daughter is doing good. Baby is lively and everything seems to be right on target.

I am giving her a baby shower with her two best friends, and am so excited about that.

We are going to have all kinds of good food, and I am in charge of the cake and punch. Been looking at different ideas. She and her husband are having some serious discussions about the name for him. lol~ Yes, those who know me know I have tossed a couple names I like in there.

Puppy love & Sundresses

It is a slow lazy Sunday here at home. 97 Degrees, feels like 107 outdoors.

I went to Barnes and Noble and treated myself to a couple books on sale.

My husband surprised me with a tall frosty mochoa frapichino from Starbucks..

So good on a hot summer day, and a rare treat for me.

Yesterday he told me he was planning on giving our dog poohbear a bath.

Have you ever noticed when they hear their name and the word bath they run and hide.?

He found her hiding in David's room.

We were out of dog shampoo, so I told him to use Dawn dish detergent.

Hey on the commercials it gets the oil off of those ducks.

Our dog stood in the bath tub while she got her shampoo. She got the works!

I think she rather enjoyed the massage and attention while in the cool bathwater.

Then she was dried off, and pranced around like a puppy.

She felt so much better. And her fur is so soft and fluffy.

The Dawn worked good.!

My poison oak is just about gone.

I don't like taking the predisone though.

It makes me feel anxious, and have insomnia.

And at night, I have noticed my heart racing.

I have about another week to take, but may call my Dr.

and see if I can take something else.

Hubby of course is completely over it.

Go figure.

Here are two sundresses I found at Old Navy.

I am wondering if they would look OK with a short sleeve white tee or top under them.

If nothing else though I can wear at Beach or at home.

I just want to be cool and comfortable.

And sundresses are so nice in the summer.

I don't want to brag or make anybody jealous or anything,

but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school .

A big thank you to my friend Marcia who sent me this today..
Made me smile. And I hate to admit it but yes it is very true. My size 7-10 days are over with and I have just accepted the fact I will never be that small again.
It is alot of work just to keep oneself up after you hit 40.
I am happy to say my daughter is back home from beach. All tan and rested.
She warned me that her belly has really grown alot since I saw her last.
She is doing good though, think she is getting more use to being pregnant and feels more at ease. Baby is kicking up a storm and so that is a good thing.
I plan on spending some mother daughter time with her this weekend.
No matter how old they get they still are your children and you miss and fret over them when they are gone..

With this hot weather, I have been craving veggies or salad.

For snack we love salsa and the lime tortilla chips.

For supper today, I am making us a huge salad, and even making a pasta salad.

I may throw a chicken breast in it.

Usually I eat less in the summer and even slim down a little.

But since I started on predisone, I have noticed, I am starving.

Good thing I only have a 2 week supply.

My daughter is big pregnant in this heat. Luckily they have central air and her office is air conditioned as well.

Baby is getting so big!!!

He will be here before I know it.

I have got to have yard sale to make room for his crib in the spare room.

In the news they are telling everyone to be careful in this heat.

If you have pets, please bring them indoors. Plus make sure they have fresh cool water.

And above all never ever leave a child or anyone for that matter in the car.

A woman was arrested for leaving her two children under the age of four in a locked car for 30 minutes at Target.

Thank God, some kind lady stopped when she saw the little girl crying covered in sweat and called 911. She took her and put her in her air conditioned car until police arrived.

Those children were lucky. Some have died from heat exposure.

100 Degrees

Crank up the air or head to the lake.

It was 100 degrees here today.

I told my husband I could no longer stand the poison oak, and called my Doctor's office today. It has been a week since I first broke out in a tiny rash. Then it got worse and spread. I have very sensitive skin and never go into woods without tennis shoes and jeans. Plus a neighbor found a copperhead in his drive down the street. I loved the green forest but my fear of snakes is greater. So I headed out to my Doctors office

When I saw my Dr. he started showing me his poison oak that he had.

He did not give me a shot, but gave me predisone, and some cream to help the itching.

He said that poison is not contagious, but if you pick up someones clothes or while doing laundry you can get it from that..

So I guess after hubby rescued the neighbors dog that night. He tossed his shirt and pants on the floor and when I picked them up the next day, I got it.

Or the Doctor said you can get it from your pets.

Guess that means Pooh bear gets a bath tomorrow.

With this heat wave, having poison ivy or oak is pure misery.

I think this calls for me to buy myself something..I found two sundresses I like.

Hubby owes me big time for this one.

Summer time here in the South...

Happy 1st Day of Summer!

I love the expression on this freckled face dogs face.

It is like who cares? Looks like he is in a cold place with snow behind him.

Already hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk here.

Going to be almost 100 degrees today.

I love summer...But that is hot!

and know what makes hot weather more miserable?

Having poison oak. And I can't find the calamine lotion! I think hubby must have put it up somewhere and who knows where it could be. He said he left it here for me..while he took the spray to work with him. I hate rashes, and have very sensitive skin.

That is why I am very careful about what lotion or skin care products I use.

I never go out in the weeds or woods without jeans and tennis shoes for this very reason.

I never knew you could catch this poison from their clothes or linens. I guess hubby got it on the sheets or something. If it is not better I am going to Dr. this week.

I was watching the View today, and hope Barbara Walters or Whoopie get back soon.

Joy Behar and Sherri Shepard are out of control!

I thought I had seen it all, but they had two guys on there today helping co host.

I about fell off my chair laughing when they were trying out some contraption to exercise your arm and chin. And the guy put on a tape boob lift.

Sherri was carrying on about her double D's that they did not have her size.

They were so crazy..but it was all in fun.

Guess I need to get off of here and get to work.

Peaceful Sunday

Happy Father's Day to all the great Dad's out there.

My own father and grandfather has passed on. But I am blessed to have my husband who is a wonderful Father,and a son-in-law who will be a great dad as well, once our grandson arrives. Husband had a pretty good day I think. He sat in his chair watching sports, and the race most of the day. I prepared him a filet mignoin, fresh green beans, corn on the cob and roasted red potatoes. It turned out really good.
I think he enjoyed being home just relaxing and taking it easy. He works very hard all week long..

He made the comment that the weekends sure do go by too fast.
I have to say I agree. I did not get to go swimming this weekend.
But soon as the posion oak dries up I will be back in the pool.
I love the water, there is just something so relaxing and healing about it.

Did you know you can catch poison oak by sleeping with somebody?

Yes, I now have it on the backs of my knees.

My husband has it on his right leg, which he throws over my legs while I am sleeping.

And the cherry on top of the cake. He got stung on the top of his foot while mowing the grass this morning.

That poor man.:(

Pizza night

I am glad it is Friday. It has been a hard week.

I have not really felt good.

My husband was up early this morning, asking if I knew where anything was for poison oak. When he rescued the neighbors dog last week, he must have got some on him.

As of now it is only on one leg. But we all know how painful and itchy poison can be. I am afraid in this hot weather it will spread!

I called the Dr. Office to see if they would call him in something.

And of course they want to see him.

And of course my husband is at work and doesn't want to get off and go to the Dr.

Why is it Men never want to listen to their wives or women in their life?

If they did it would be for their own good.

But I quit trying to figure out the way a mans mind works along time ago.

My daughter is gone this week. I miss her.

She packed her floppy hat and new maternity bathing suit and sunscreen and is headed to the Beach. I told her to be careful and not get too hot or worse sunburned.

We went shopping last weekend to find her a bathing suit.

There is not much out there for pregnant women.

There was only one at Sears. A brightly colored tankini..in a size medium.

And believe it or not, it fit! We were so shocked, but glad.

I told her the cool water would help her sore muscles and back.

She is doing really good, but baby is growing so fast.

Tonight we are having a pizza night at our house.

It is kind of a tradition at our house on Fridays to have pizza. Or if we go out we usually have seafood.

I got a new movie in the mail called Shutter Island.

I hope it is not too scary.

Our heat wave is hanging on. We did get storms and some rain today.

So that was good we needed the rain.

I woke up this morning, the cable was out, the wireless was not working and the phone was out. Not a good day.

Looks like Joran Van Der Sloot will pay dearly for his horrible deeds..

They are rioting and ready to string him up in Peru.

On the covers of magazines, on the news there his face is.

I am so sick of him. I know he is someones child. I feel for his Mother.

But then I think of the other parents who have lost their children.

I am glad they caught him and he can't hurt or kill anyone else.

I have a feeling he will not last long in that country.

I hope they do not send him back to Aruba.

He has lied so much, who knows what he has done?.

Now they think that he is a serial killer.

He is so young..hard to imagine what made him have such a lack of empathy or regard for human life.

He picked the wrong girl. Her father is powerful, has many friends and family.

We all know and have seen what money and power can do.

He will not get out of this one.

Rest in Peace Natalie...

I hope her Mother gets some closure. I wish they could find her body and she could be buried at home.

There is so much good and beauty and light in this world.

Sometimes it is hard to see it.

Heatwave & Tip for today

Hot here!. Summer has came with a heatwave. It is 96 degrees with a heat factor over 100 degrees. I try to get out to do my watering of my flowers in the morning or late evening.

It is so humid here in the South.

Everyone has to have air conditoning to survive.

I drink lots of water, eat salad and fruit mostly on hot days.

One has to be careful or you will get dehydrated.

The kind of day that makes me want a swimming pool very badly. I love the sunshine and being outdoors, but it is just too hot to enjoy.

We planted some flowers under the tree in front of computer room.

I love sitting here and looking at the birds and butterflies.

Very peaceful. Even the cable guy acted like he did not want to leave my desk and computer chair. He made the comment It is very peaceful out here.

On days like today I feel very thankful.

For air conditioning, iced tea, my comfortable home, my wonderful family.

For barbecues & swimming, and the blue of our sky.

For our good neighbors, our faithful dog.

I have been reading the book Oprah, by Kitty Kelly.

Very interesting book. Sad in some parts.

Even with all the money that Oprah has, I bet it doesn't make the hurt and memories of her past go away.

We all have our good times and our bad.. Each and everyone of us.

Some more than others.

I would hate to have someone write a book about my life based on other peoples tales.

We all know how things can get turned around.

I have another book I am reading as well, Bloodroot. So far it is pretty good.

It has been so pretty, I have not read much though except right when I go to bed.

Then I get too sleepy to read long.

Daughter let me feel her tummy when she was here this past weekend.

I got to feel him kicking.

Life is such a miracle.

Makes me smile and feel happy every time I think of it.

With what I have been spending, I definitely need to make a list.

Went to the mall with daughter, she found a cute tankini bathing suit.

I went to belk and stocked up on my Clinque makeup.

Then we went to a Mexican place and had a nice lunch.

We had so much fun..

Then today we went to Longhorn as a family and had dinner.

I looked at bathing suits, but did not see any I liked in my size.

I am trying to lose some weight before I buy any more clothes.

Walking all over the mall yesterday about killed me.

I realized then how out of shape I have let myself get.

Very easy to do.

So back to the Y, I am going next week..I mean it.

Oh yeah, before I forget, True blood comes on tonight on HBO.

Seems like it has been forever doesn't it.

I am ready to see what Sookie gets into this season.

My Gerber Daisy.

If anyone knows how to get a Gerber Daisy to live, please let me know. Each one I get dies.

My sister gave me this hot pink one, a couple hanging baskets.

Now Daisy is just leaves turning yellow and dying. .

I found out the hard way not to leave in direct sunlight.

I trimmed the dead leaves off and babied at the kitchen sink.

And am thinking of planting under one of my bigger trees, so it will be in shade.

At last........

Here is a peek at the nursery.

It is not finished yet, but they got the room painted, new blinds and curtains up. And the crib and dresser put together.

I think they did a good job.

The bedding is the sports, safari theme.

They added the molding to room, which adds alot.

The crib will convert into toddler bed when he outgrows it.

They still need to get the mattress and a few pictures up.

It won't be long and little one will be here.

We had a beautiful warm sunny day.

It still allergy season here though.

We planted a few bedding plants and worked in the flowerbed.

Or hubby did most of it.

I did try to help some. I had a good day today.

Even fixed a nice dinner.

Fixed beef stew and carrots and onions in the crock pot.

And mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.

I got computer room cleaned up! Want to know why?

The cable guy is coming to bring a new modem tomorrow..

It would be nice if my desk would always be this neat.

Not sure where the weekend went? But it is gone already.

David had a wonderful birthday.

He got a new printer for his laptop.

Giftcards, money, and we took him to Kobe, a Japanese steakhouse.

For dessert we went to daughters and had New York style cheesecake.

Everything was so good.

I will go back to my diet tomorrow.

Daughter and sil got the baby's room painted.

And the crib and dresser set up.
I love the set they chose. It is so well made and they can convert it to a toddler bed when he gets older.
I was hoping I could feel him kicking while I was there. I talked to him, rubbed her tummy. But of course he waited until I left to start kicking. lol~
Daughter is cute as a button pregnant. She thinks she is huge, but I think she looks just right for 6 months.
They are going to add some pictures and things to walls, but this is a good start.

The room colors they chose are perfect.

I will post some pictures later.

It is getting late, and I better get ready for bed.
These bones are tired tonight, and it is raining so I will sleep good.

Dreams that we keep..

We have had rain and storms on and off all day.

I was enjoying swimming at the Y, when the lifeguard closed the pool due to lightening.

On the way home we picked up a couple flounder boxes to take home.

I have to say the water is the most helpful for my bad knee and aches and pains.

I have noticed stress or when I am upset my arthritis pain gets worse.

Plus I can lose weight without dieting, and pretty fast. Swimming is great exercise. Something healing about the water for me.

My ancestors must have lived close to water or the sea for I love it, and am much happier when I am around it. Husband and I want to visit Maine soon for a family vacation.

My sister called me today to tell me they have things about ready to pick in their garden.

And plan on sending us a basket of green peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, eggplant.

I think I could very easily be a vegetarian in the summer months.

I have a feeling there will be a huge jump in the price of seafood before long.

That is just sickening about all the oil in the Ocean. I heard not only is it killing the fish and ducks, but making people there have headaches, breathing difficulty..Can you imagine the loss of jobs and home values will plummet. It freaky almost, seems like just one bad thing after another keeps happening.

Very hard to watch. We live about four hours from the beach. I hope and pray nothing like that hits out coast.

Our state depends on tourism..

On to happier things, daughter is doing good. We were going to have a barbecue Monday but it got rained out. And to be honest, I did not feel up to cooking.

So we went and had Italian food. It was very good, but hubby likes Olive Garden better.

Daughters little tummy is now round as a little beach ball. I keep feeling her tummy to feel him kick, but so far he has not complied..

She said he mostly kicks after she drinks something sweet or at night when she is relaxing before bed.

She is doing so good. Working everyday and enjoying her pregnancy now she is no longer so tired, and the nausea is gone.

Strange things have been going on with me since I found out I was going to be a grandmother! I just have not been myself. I day dream alot.. Spend hours looking at baby things online. I sometimes getting to thinking of how much I love that baby and start crying. I really sob if I watch The baby story or Bringing baby home show..lol~

I Email her a different name almost everyday that I think she might like for baby.

It will have the same middle name and both its grandpas..but she is undecided on the first name. Boys names are harder than girl names I think.I have been dreaming since she is pregnant.

One dream is I am a runner, and run for miles and miles and never get tired. Would that not be wonderful? It is like I am seeing all these far away places in my dreams when I am running.

Another dream I feel a sharp pain, and it makes me sit up in bed, and I think she is in labor.

It feels like when I was in labor. Then once I wake up then I am fine. I think anyone who has ever given birth has never forgotten that pain.

I guess watching her grow with baby has got me a little worried.

I know her husband is taking very good care of her, so that makes me feel better.

I can't wait to hold that new baby.

Been a long while since we had a little one in the family.

And it seems as if everyone is having boys! I never thought my first grandson would be a boy.

Our dog was none to happy to see the rain today..

kinda moping..lol~

Busy kind of day..

Hard to believe this tiny little boy now is taller than me and still growing.
Teen boys really do grow fast! And eat twice as much as normal.

Today has been a busy day. I have cleaned, and dusted and did laundry, folded clothes and packed stuff away. My hubby mowed the grass and weeded the yard. It was so hot that when he came in his face was all flushed and red. I told him he should have came in and taken a break or waited until it got cooler. I am afraid he will have a heat stroke.
It was that hot today. All my flowers looked wilted in their pots. I brought them in and trimmed the dead leaves off and watered. Hoping they will perk up some in the house...
I had bought some nice silver queen white corn at the market, and a box of freezer bags and was wanting to freeze a batch. It will have to wait until tomorrow.

My knee is killing me from being on my feet so much this week. If I knew the surgery would help, I would do it. But honestly don't know. And with the baby coming, I am afraid of infection or something happening and I won't be able to help daughter after baby is born.
It really depresses me that I can't walk or do all the things I am use to without being in pain.
The Doctor said my knees are bone on bone. And it is more than likely genetic, since my mom and aunts, and two cousins. had the same problems.. I hate taking medication of any kind. The Etodolac helps some, but the ultrim doesn't do much. I have had the synvisc shots and before that the cortisone. Some one said stem cell research may have some soloutions to knee pain. I sure hope so. I know I am not alone with this depressing, painful condition.

Well it is late, I want to finish my book "Henry's sisters" Which is a very good read.

Above is a new site I discovered. I have been looking with daughter at nursery pictures.

She and her hubby will be painting and fixing up babys room this month.

He is 22 weeks old now!!! She is more than halfway there. I think I shall almost die of excitement before he gets here.
I was looking at all the birds on my birdfeeder this morning. I though of him in his high chair eating his breakfast looking at them too.

Daughter is doing really good. Has been feeling little kicks and had some heartburn but other than that is fine. I think he is getting hair and eyelashes now, and if I remember correctly that is why one gets heartburn.

David is taking is EOG today, pray that he passes his math.

Hubby is working, may have to have another surgery. Hope not, but his roter cuff is torn from accident. Sometimes one just has to laugh to keep from crying.

It is so hot here already, one would think it is summer already.

It is going to be a busy summer!!!

Stay cool and try to slow down and enjoy.

As fast as time is going by it will be over before we know it.

I really like this nursery, looks like a calm and peaceful place.

For carpet stains or spills. Soak up excess liquid with paper towel.

I am feeling a bit guilty today. I did not go to gym as planned.

We had bad storms here last night. That kept me up into the wee hours of this morning. And when I don't sleep well, it tends to throw off my entire day.

Then my neighbors lab decided to bark right underneath my bedroom windows.

Hubby grilled out hotdogs for supper.

Not a healthy supper but a quick one.

I am reading a book called The 19th wife. It is a good read but sad, because knowing that there are women out there today that are no better than slaves to their husbands.

Who as children to be married off to a man as old as their grandfather or someone they can't stand just because a so called prophet says they have to.. They have hardly any access to the real world or a education..

It is a crying shame it what it is.

I have been on a reading spree lately.

I did enjoy the latest Sookie book by Charlaine Harris.

Dead in the Family.

It only took me two days.

Very fun read. It won't be long and our favorite vampires will be back on HBO.

I also enjoyed Robin McGraw's latest book, " What's age got to do with it"

I love books, and carry one with me everywhere I go.

Next one to read is Henry's sisters by Cathy Lamb..

It has been good reading weather here..rainy.

Found the theme, bedding set for baby's room.

This is the swing I am wanting to get for the baby when it gets here.

They have really improved since mine was little.

I also found a bedding set I like. I will remove the bumpers once baby starts moving around in crib. I think the ocean theme is cheerful and will help keep him happy when it is nap time. I love the color blue anyway. I am looking at paint samples and trying to find a color to match the bedding set. So far I have bought two nice carters blankets in sage and aqaua. They will match the bedding set. It is Fisher Price and at Babies or Us.

Daughter and sil are doing babies nursery in a sports safari theme, it is cute as well.

Everyone in family on both sides is sports fans except me. So baby will probably be playing ball as soon as he can walk.

And of course I have got to have a bouncer seat.

David loved this more than anything. I would carry him from room to room while I was doing different things in the house, so he could see me. And I could keep an eye on him.

Daughter is growing, baby is getting bigger every week. She is looking so cute though in her maternity clothes..all her weight is going straight to baby. She is so little, it worries me some. The Doctor said she may have to have a c-section.

Other than being tired and her back hurting some, she is doing great!

She just has that glow about her.

Daughter said she and sil went to the movies the other night to see Iron man 2.

She said she did not know if it was the noise and excitement from the movie or the thai food she had but their baby boy started kicking up a storm.

She will be 21 weeks this Wednesday.

Boy time is flying by.

Hubby told me today, that baby will be here before I know it.

It is scary almost have fast time is going by.

The days and especially the weekends of course.

I hope everyone had a good one.

Ours was great. Daughter and I went for manicures and pedicures.

Then we stopped at Papa Johns and got pizza.

Hubby did yard work, so he was starving by the time we got home.

Sunday was the kind of day I did not want to end. We just hung out and then went to the grocery store and then came home and I fixed a huge salad, and he fixed hamburger steaks with grilled onions.

We enjoy just hanging out and doing things together, still after all these years.

Sure there are times when he gets on my last nerve, but he is really as good guy.

We have had hot sunny days, but some bad thunder storms and winds in the evenings and at night.

Trees came down in some places, and even hail damaged some cars.

This weather worries me, one never knows what to expect.

You see all these tornadoes and floods, and think but by the grace of God that could be me or my family.

On days like today, I wish we had a swimming pool. It was so hot, 89 degrees.
And very humid. I went today and got my mani-pedi and used my giftcard from my birthday. It was so relaxing. I love the risky mauve nail color I chose. It will match my summer clothes. My daughter went with me. I was shocked at how big baby has grown since I saw her last. I think she said she has gained four lbs in two weeks. But it is all baby.

Hubby and I went out to dinner last night and had crabcakes and salad. They were so good.
I love seafood. Which is kind of odd, for my Mother hated fish and we never had it when I was growing up. I think my husband was the first one who treated me to a shrimp and lobster dinner after we married. My dad loved oysters, which I am not too fond of.
One seafood I don't care for is scallops. Salmon or flounder are my favorites. And I love the maine crablegs.

I cleaned out my old winter purse and reloaded the new one I bought with my Birthday money. It is so pretty and soft. I found a leather one at Penneys in Teal. It was on sale and then I had a coupon and got another 30%off.
I have not been online as much, this time of year it just seems like so much we have to do.
I have to get the painter lined up to paint the guest room we are making into a nursery for when baby stays over. I bought two soft blankets that are a sage green, and aqua, and lime green. I love the minky dot linens. I have bought two crib sheets to put on the crib we are buying from one of daughters co-workers..
I started to get a crib set. But daughter told me no one is using the crib bumper pads anymore. That the baby can get sids. Or that it is dangerous. I am finding out alot of things I did not realize when she was little.
She survived and so did I, guess because I did not know anybetter.

Time for a change

Today when I walked outdoors, I saw the fat rabbit that lives in the woods behind our house. Right in the middle of my flowerbed. At first I was shocked speechless, but then I could not help but laugh to myself. He is so fat from the clover growing around the yard.
I could not be mad for him being in the flowerbed. He was just so beautiful and wild.
The rabbits need to eat too. And I guess he likes my roses bushes..

I love where we live, the neighborhood and most of all the wild creatures that share this land with us. I have never seen such beautiful birds or deer until we moved here.
I get to see horses and cows grazing on green grassland. I grew up in the city, but would not want to move back there I think.
It is so peaceful and quite here. I just hope it stays that way.

Daughter told me she felt the baby move for the first time last night. She said it felt like a faint fluttering. This brings back so many memories. It won't be long and he will be kicking up a storm night and day. I look at his picture on the ultra sound and just can't wait for him to get here. I love him so already.

I joined the gym so am going to start going to work out and go to the pool.
I have to say I have let my body get very out of shape. Too many late night snacks, and too much chocolate while sitting at puter. I do really good at meal time. It is the night time and the snacks that get me.
It will about kill me starting out, but a person has to start somewhere right?
I am hoping to lose at least 30 lbs by the time the baby gets here.
And swimming is the fastest and best way for me to lose weight.
I lost 12 lbs just from going during physical therapy. And it really helped me feel better.
I want to get stronger and in better shape and feel better. It seems like I stay tired all the time. I use to could run and go and do all the time, and it is hard not feeling good.

Shopping for a new cell phone..

Hump Day. This week is flying by. I mostly ran errands, did stop by the mall and went to look for a new set of sheets at JCPenny. I got a $ 15.00 Gift certificate from them for my Birthday. Then the cashier ask if I wanted a coupon that you scratched off the extra amount you could save. I could not believe I got an extra 30% off.

So I got a set of sheets and two cute outfits for the baby for around $34.00. The sheets are Cindy Crawford brand, hope that is a good brand. They felt silky and soft and were 400 thread count.

Then my cell phone is broken, so I went by the verizon place to look.

Trying to decide between a Blackberry Storm or the motorolla my husband likes.

My LG Chocolate which I loved did not last but two years. So I will not be getting a new one of those.

I found some online that are alot less than what they charge in the store. And it is the same brand and everything. Have any of you ever ordered a phone offline? Any problems or success?

Tonight while watching Modern Family they were in Hawaii. I have never been but hope someday we can. It looks so beautiful there.

Maybe one year for Christmas we can go. I think it would be fun to skip the cold and all the shopping maddness and just take a nice vacation. I could buy everyones Christmas presents there. Sounds like a winner to me.

Beautiful sunny day. 90 degrees.

The kind of day here in the South that makes one slow down and want to sit indoors in the air conditoning , with a glass of sweet tea nearby.

Today was a pretty good day. I did not get everything done on my list, but put a big dent in it. Something funny happened today.

My little neighbor came ringing the doorbell carrying a big White net.

His little friend carried another net shaped like a tall basket with a lid on top.

After I told him David was not here, curosity got the best of me.

I ask him what was the net for?

To catch butterflies he said excitedly. He is six years old and looks just like that Dennis the Menance on the movie. Adorable little boy. I ask him what he was going to do with them,. but he hadn't thought that far. I enjoyed seeing them running around in my yard looking for butterflies. Hope they don't get a bee by mistake.

We sat on the porch with our dogs, talking yesterday. I enjoy him so much since we no longer have a little one around.

He has a bird nest out in their yard, the mama bird was gone. So he has been feeding them bread. So funny when one is around little ones, life is such an adventure.

And you know what I have discovered about kids?

They are starved for someone to talk to. Or to listen to them.

Parents need to slow down or cut off the TV or computer and listen to their kids, or take a walk with them.

Mine always talked the most to me about things that bothered them in the car.

I still remember and treasure those times.

Well I am tired, been a long day.

Baby shower

In a few more months we will be giving daughter her baby shower.
I found these cute cakes online at MarthaStewart.com
It has been awhile since I helped with a shower, two of her friends are helping, so hopefully we can give her a good one.
I am looking at my cook books and trying to decide what are some good items to make.
I want to keep shower casual, and relaxing for guest. I think we will have around 15.
I thought maybe a cheeseball, crackers, and chicken salad on crossiants, and a veggie tray. One of her friends husband use to own a restraunt and he makes wonderful food. He is making some things also.
One of my favorite things at showers is the punch! Does any of you know of a good punch recipe?

Daughter is doing good, growing, and still working every day. She plans on working up to the day when she has the baby. She has a desk job so that will not be as hard as her having to be on her feet 8 hrs a day.
I am a little concerned that she has not felt the baby move yet. She is 19 weeks?
Maybe little one is too tiny for her to feel yet. She goes back to Dr. for ultrasound in a couple weeks. I will feel better then. And it will be easier to buy things. There is not that many neutral baby things out there.
I know for sure one thing I want for my house is one of those baby swings. They are a lifesaver when you have some things you need to get done, or baby is cranky and will not go to sleep.

Monday musings

I woke to the sound of rain this morning. First thing I did when I got up was look out the front door at my flowers. They have really perked up from the rain.

The wind is blowing, but we are lucky no storms or floods at our place.

My heart goes out to friends and family in TN.

When I tried to take our dog outside today everything was soaking wet.

Poohbear looked out front door and stuck her nose up in the air. She thinks she is too good to get one paw wet.

Yesterday I got a nice early birthday surprise. My sister brought me a blueberry bush, a couple hanging baskets and a pink gerber daisy for my birthday.

Yes, I am getting older... My Birthday is on Sunday.

Getting ready to hit the big 50!

Funny as it may seem, mentally I do not feel that age.

I still think and feel pretty much same as always.

Somedays my body and bones protest when I over do it.

My mom warned me, if you think you have aches and pains just wait.

I have to say mom was right.

Mothers day is coming up.

I lost my mom 4 years ago. My husband lost his mom this past year.

Our daughter is becoming a Mom! Won't be much longer.

The baby is due in September. We find out in a couple weeks the gender.

So all this is bittersweet.

So for all you that still have moms living out there, I envy you.

Be sure and make her day special.

Another beautiful Sunday

We decided to have a cookout yesterday.

Hubby grilled porkchops, steaks, while I made a pasta salad, a regular salad and baked beans.

Then we watched a couple movies we rented.

Sherlock Holmes, David loved this movie,, I have to say it kept you wondering until the end.

Robert Downey jr. is an amazing actor!

Next if you want a movie to make you laugh your butt off watch "Its complicated" with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Meryl Streep acted happier and more fun than any other movie she has ever played in. She is a very good actress..never seen a movie she was in that I did not like.

Very good movie.

Now we are getting ready to head out for a Sunday drive, who knows where we will end up.

The weather is just too nice to be indoors.

It has been awhile since I posted. Been kind of busy living and going and doing.

We have had some beautiful weather lately. No bad tornadoes or storms, thank goodness.

My family and I are looking forward to summer. About ready for a trip to the beach.

What about the rest of you? Tired of being home, work, ect? I think we all deserve a vacation!

Our hot water element burned out today. So that meant no hot shower this morning. Hubby went and got one and replaced the old one. This seems to have been the year for things to wear out or break at our house. But at least we have a house, and each other. That is what matters. You can replace things but not people.

I am very thankful for my home and family. When life gets kinda crazy, and takes a few twist and turns we all need to find things we are thankful for.

So I decide to make a list of 6 things I am thankful for.

A good morning song from the birds outside my window.

The trees that give shade or share their beauty blooming this year.

Sweet honey on a hot biscuit for breakfast.

A comfortable pair of sandals or flipflops.

Ice cold watermellon

Slipping between soft, silkly clean sheets after a long day.

We are so blessed to have such a beautiful place to live. I love our planet.
Happy Earth Day. If you take care of our planet it will take care of you.
I know I fall short in doing all I can to preserve and make it a place for our children and future generations. But every little bit we do, can make a huge difference when we add it all up. I am planning on recycling more. We are going to plant a tree this month. Making useful purchases of items I really need instead of things on a whim. Drinking more water out of my brita picture, and less bottled waters. Just like our bodies, our planet needs love and to be cared for.

Speaking of which...
I am feeling so much better after I got that tooth taken care of Monday.
It is amazing how much a hurting tooth can make one sick. No more caramel corn for me. That is how I cracked the filling in tooth, then it became abcessed. It made me feel bad all over, thank goodness my dentist got me in as soon as they opened this week.
I had a good day. Nice to feel well for a change.

We went out to Applebees for supper. I had the best french onion soup. I love their food.
Then we ran a few errands and came home. I found out today that Alanta Bread Company marks down all breads, danish, muffins at 8 pm. daily. I just had to buy a cheese and raspberry crossiant, and a chocolate, and bearclaw danish to go with our coffee in the morning. We just got a panera bread in our town as well. I have never been but heard they have really good food.

We are in for some bad storms this weekend..hope no tornadoes come our way.

I went to sleep on the couch watching Dancing with the Stars. Drats, did not get to see the ending. I am tired, and now wide awake.

Going to dentist tomorrow to get tooth taken care of.

Anticipation anxiety has set in. I never use to dread dentist like this.

Just now hubby came into computer room all upset. He probley just saved our neighbors dogs life.

Hubby got up and had to go out and see where it was at, he heard him crying and whimpering.. It had gotten tangled into its leash and half choked to death. He had a time getting to it, Finally after much climbing and getting scratched up he found it in the middle of a huge bush at the edge of their yard! I hope and pray there was no posion out there. It is a wonder a possum or raccoon did not attack or even worse a snake. There is all kinds of wildlife out here in the rural area we live.

I had not realized hubby had been out there that long untangling that poor dog. The neighbors are gone, and he could hear it crying from our bedroom. About half an hour ago he came and told me he was going to check on it.

He is such a good man. He is takes it treats when he walks our dog. When they let it lose it comes running to our house. It just starts quivering from head to toe when he pets it and gives it a kind word. We have watched for them to go out of town and I am surprised they did not let her know today they were leaving. Neighbors said they were going to get an electric fence, but for the time being it is on a long leash. I hate to see dog tied. We gave away our kennel when Poohbear had surgery and became a diva house dog.

Now she just goes out for walks with us or to do her business. When it rains she will not hardly set one paw out on the porch.

Now hubby can't sleep..lol~ Least I have company.

Desperate housewives

I hope each of you had a good weekend.

Ours was pretty good. Just went by too quickly.

Today While pulling out of the drive, I saw something big and furry in the grass.

I ask David and hubby what it was? And hubby said it was the large rabbit that is living behind our propane tank.

That thing was huge! At first I thought it was a cat or dog.

I guess the coyotes have left our neighborhood and the rabbits are back.

I just watched Desperate housewives. It was really good tonight.

I have to say Lynette is my favorite housewife. Husband says she reminds him of me.

She is very protective over her kids. And I like how she is fiesty and stands up for herself and the other housewives. I love how Bree cooks and acts all mean but really has a heart of gold. How Gabby is beautiful, spoiled, but lovable all at the same time.

We started to go see Date Night today at the movies, a friend told me is was hilarious. . But I had to go to the grocery store and just felt lousy when I got home. My back tooth, the one that needs the root canal started hurting and I think it is abcessed. I felt feverish and achy and it has woke me up early several mornings. I called dentist and he called in a zpack and some pain pills that help just a little.

Very discouraging. I just got over bronchitis and now this. Seems like my body is just falling apart. Feeling kind of old and tired today. Even hubby felt bad yesterday, he said he just felt worn out. Since his accident he gets more tired easily. I know losing his mom did not help things either. His dad is in his 80's and I know he thinks about he might not be around much longer either. David keeps us on our toes though. He is a character. He has been working out at the gym, and I think it has made him grow even faster. Boy teen boys can eat alot too. He seems to be hungry all the time.

Well that seems to be happening to me here lately.

I did have to treat myself to a chocolate malt shake today. And picked up some burgers and a chicken sandwich from Cookout. They have really good food. I know it was not healthy and too many calories.

Somedays one just has to be kind to themselves.

And when I feel bad, I do not feel like cooking.

Been reading a really good book by Danielle Steel.

Big Girl.

Been nesting, snuggled on the couch with my favorite throw, and my book, and my iced tea by my side. Hubby enjoyed basketball and bits of some movie he and David had rented. Some war movie, not my cup of tea.

Guess I will be back at dentist tomorrow to see what he can do.

Maybe next weekend hubby and I can see that movie.

Well enough of my rambling on..

Today was a nice day. I am glad that tomorrow is Friday and the weekned is just around the corner.

My husband brought home a coconut custard pie today. I had never ate one until I met him. His mom use to make the best ones.. So I am going to treat my self to a slice and a cold glass of milk and get ready for bed.

Not much going on here to write about. I am just staying busy, and spending time with family and doing all the mundane things that one has to do in house.

I am going to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to buy a scrapbooking kit.

I have so many photos in boxes or on computer I need prints of.

I want to make a special album for our new baby when it gets here.

Daughter went to Dr. this week. She is doing pretty good, just having some joint pain, discomfort from baby growing so fast. Or is could be a pinched nerve. She has gained 5 lbs so far. And is 4 months along.

The heart beat was strong and 150 beats a minute.

Being only 5'2" those 5 lbs are all baby. She looks cute as can be with her baby bump.

It is so hard to belive I am going to be a grandmother! 5 more months.

And we find out the sex of baby in 4 weeks.

I have been looking online at baby things, and there are is so much more to choose from than when mine was little.

David came home from school with a stomach virus this week.

He is feeling some better but still not 100%.

Kids catch everything coming and going at School, it seems like.

It will not be much longer and School will be out. Hard to believe how fast this year is going by.

I sometimes think these shows on T.V. are rigged?

On Dancing with the Stars, Kate still did not get voted off?

The couple that did get voted off was much better than Kate or Neicy Nash.

I am tired of reality T.V. I got some movies from Netflix, think I should stick to watching them.

It was a nice day here. I did not leave house at all today.

Worked on organizing and doing things in the house mostly.

I over did it yesterday and my body felt it today.

I am spring cleaning or trying to.

I am a bit overwhelmed with all that needs to be done.

I went to Walmart yesterday and went in to buy one thing and ended up coming out with a shopping cart full of groceries and stuff we needed for house.

By the time I had groceries up, and dinner ready I was beat.

I hope hubby and David will help me some this weekend. My flowerbeds need some work.

I am undecided what to plant this year. We have had more rain, so that gives me hope for a pretty flower garden.

Well I have rambled on long enough.

Think I better get off of here and head to bed.

I watched Dancing with the Stars tonight. It was not as good as weeks past.

I am hoping Poor Kate Gosslin gets voted off.

She looks miserable, and keeps walking instead of Dancing. I understand she is having problems with the EX..he is just like a bad rash who will not go away. I feel for her. It must be hard having your private life on TV. day after day. I use to Love their show, thought they made the cutest couple.

It is a shame the money and fame really changed them as people.

Even Poor Neicy did not do well tonight.

The Pussycat doll girl did pretty good, but did not seem too happy.

My husband liked the skinny girl in the red dress..I had to call him down for a comment or two..

Pamela Anderson did ok.. I have to say she has a way of moving that keeps one watching.

But she has the weirdest expressions on her face.

Wonder how old she is?..

We use to watch Baywatch years ago.
